    Evening,
Anyone currently working on any interesting series?
RCM Creatures of the North, RM Myths & Legends and Tudor Beasts (proof) for me. I fancy getting into something new.
    Cheers

Received yesterday, a 1997 Golden Wedding Anniversary Crown, this one I had marked off my list, but I actually didn’t have one!
The Churchill is another welcome addition and the Victoria 200th Anniversary Piedfort will sit next to my existing £5 and the Alfred £5 will join Alfred’s larger Piedfort Brother.
Getting near the target of a run of Decimal Elizabeth II £5 Silver Proof Crowns from 1972- just 7 more individual coins to go,  for the run of the 83 I have chosen to collect.
Here’s the 7 left to collect:

My bet is most of the currency people here hold is digital, so when it goes to zero it will be worth zero.
So keep swapping out fiat for real money - gold and silver.

If you live in the UK, can pick up silver with less than 50% premium (£24ish per oz at time of writing - easily done in my experience) and have the understanding that you will be holding for many years, you won't lose.
If you are looking to invest in silver for immediate gains, then it's a mugs game.
    My opinion, not advice!

    My personal opinion is this…
I think the RM flooded the market with too many releases. And, with the increased mintages of the Gothic Crown coins, they killed the goose that laid the golden eggs.
In a way, it’s good because the RM indirectly flipped the finger to the flippers (the GC prices now seem to be a race to the bottom).
I believe that’s why the flippers have stayed away from the latest RM releases, which is why the releases haven’t been the typical sell-out in a few hours.
What this also means is that genuine collectors now have a better chance at buying what they want, direct from the RM, at issue price.
This is great imo. It is what we hankered for. Less queueing. More availability. Buying what you like - not what you think it will sell for.
Collecting feels a bit more genuine again. 😀

We have temporarily stopped trading Bullion. If you are registered with The Royal Mint, you will receive an email when were back online.

I don't know how long ago they suspended bullion trading. If it was yesterday, I could partly understand it, but the market is quieter, and much less volatile today.
This seems to mark the Royal Mint out as a "fair weather" dealer. It must be unsatisfactory for their customers to discover they can't buy or sell when they want to, particularly when markets are busy and volatile.
This is a clear indication that other UK bullion dealers operate a much more reliable market and service.
Also, where are the Apostrophe Police when you need them?

The Lion is alright. I prefer the Panther.
I think some of the criticism of the first 2 is a bit harsh.
The statues that the coins are portraying are very odd looking, cartoonish and unrealistic. So isnt that what we are getting on the coins?

I'm quite liking these. To be fair, these panthers and lions are a truer representation of the original beasts at Hampton court than the Jodie Clark versions which had a more 'realistic' look to them.
The Wizard of Oz lion though..🤣🤣 Great spot👍
    3 x 1/4 Au and 2oz Ag for me.
    3 x 1oz Au a bit steep twice a year unfortunately 😒

caf84 reacted to SilverStorm in Is Gold a good buy if I am low on cash or is silver better?
IMHO...if you're low on cash, make sure you have all of your life expenses/necessities taken care of first, like rent or mortgage, health care premiums, utilities, etc.   Then save enough cash for minimum of 3 months living expenses before thinking of getting into precious metals.   The worst scenario is you buy silver/gold, but then are forced to sell it at a loss because you have cash flow problems and need to make ends meet.

Despite being one of the poor buggers who missed out on the first release, I think this is a great thing that RM are doing.
Makes you wonder if they will do the same for the new Monarch series. I was amazed when folk said there was no continuity option with it
