Do you have a Pocket Piece?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

It’s a phrase I’ve heard a few times now since I started stacking silver earlier this year.

‘Pocket piece’ - Apparently it’s when you carry a piece of silver (or gold) around with you, in your pocket.

I think I’m going to start doing this, as I often want to look at my silver coins but it’s a long process getting them from storage each time just to do so.

I’m going to pick a coin over the weekend to keep with me at all times 🪙

What are your thoughts on this?

Do you have a pocket piece that you carry around with you?

If you do, can I see it?

I'm in the same boat as yourself. Have wanted a pocket piece for a few years but cant decide on the right coin. Very drawn to the older coins though, peace dollars and Morgan's etc.Its just finding the right one at the right time and in excellent condition as I'd like to be the one to wreck it (if that makes sense)

I think the 100g forum bar is ideal for this purpose, either kept in it's bag or loose in the little pocket of Levis/Wranglers.

Mmm never actually considered a bar before ( for some unknown reason I felt it had to be a coin) but after seeing the key ring above and now you mentioning a bar....the plot thickens lol

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

"There is no such thing as public money, there is only taxpayers' money"

Let not England forget her precedence of teaching nations how to live.

If you will supply the bar/coin (as an act of generosity) im happy to drill through it for the key ring 😁 seriously though it's a great idea and I suppose could just as effectively be used on a round coin also. May actually borrow this idea in the future as in my personal opinion its suited for me better considering nobody in my family/ immediate daily contact is one bit interested in silver (if it's not paper/plastic it doesn't make sense to them lol.

If only we knew someone in this contry that could hand cast silver.

Yeah I'm pretty certain 80% of the good folk on here would buy at least one each(the big kid in me would want enough for a set of bunk beds 😁)  if around £25 a block/oz.

Old silver crowns are be great for this.

I keep an old 1888 crown on my desk and pick it up multiple times a day. I don’t know why really.

Had a similar thought a while back and got myself this wondererful Pamp key ring. Just a half ounce bar, nothing too expensive!

I used to carry two coins around with me a long time ago.

A worn and counter-stamped William III halfcrown (1697) and a gold half guinea of Charles II which was so worn you could only tell what it was by the edge of the bottom of his bust and on the other side the remnants of the odd shield, it was also slightly bent. Cool near blank of gold though.
