Thank you for your thoughts.
I think half oz kind of size is the worst of both worlds... I'd sooner get 2 sovs than a double, heard that from a couple of dealers also and generally on the forum it seems true watching sales listings. I'd perhaps buy one double but wouldn't stack them like full sovs

Modofantasma your secrets safe with me.
Here is a bulk storage solution for your dry storage area while i think of it. Its a very old photo lol
Ideal for storage yes, with enough tape we can have a sword fight 🤣
Haha just scrolling up the quote function has got things a bit mixed up for some reason quoted you in above along with the OP. Hopefully it helps @theman73 too. Thanks for the tip on the 1925 👍🏽

One in poor condition has got to be worth a tenner posted but I cant really see the condition of yours.
A 50% half crown? I bought over 400 of them in December somewhere around £3.60 each here's a random selection of them for an idea of condition. I'd expect selling individually you might get a little more per coin or a small lot or if the condition is very good but like I said I don't know about key dates etc if they're Pre 1920 then 92.5% they'll be worth more than that as they have more silver in

As @ArgentSmith says you could auction the coins here on the forum. If you have a bottom price that you would take start the bidding at that figure or if not keen on an auction idea you could start a listing with the coins perhaps showing the total weight of pre 1920 and total weight of pre 1947 and list it for the price you want and let the market decide 👍🏽

1925 half crown is a key date.

Not sure I'd call myself an expert but these coins looks quite worn in general. I've bought somewhere north of 30kg of old silver coinage at melt price and below in various lots over the past year and most has been in better condition. A small fraction with similar wear and the odd holed coin but very few like I say on average better condition.
Check whether any dates are particularly special in what you have (not something I've looked into yet personally so I don't know)

My question is - did the Royal Mint remove the silver content to improve the 'durability' of the coin as the coins would be in circulation, or is it merely a cost cutting measure ?
What year were sovs last in circulation? They haven't reverted back to more silver since then.
I think there are pros and cons to the modern composition but I prefer the older yellowish colour

I'm wrong?
in Silver
Also another point perhaps... People who have been buying silver for a few years and especially pre 2021 in the UK are potentially more likely to hang on to that silver and sell gold now if cash is needed as gold can be bought back at low % premium whereas silver is likely to cost them a lot more to get hold of now

I'm wrong or everybody panicked and start selling their gold?
The first page of the Silver forum (ungraded) right now at 12:15 is full of gold for sale, I mean not a single silver for sale, only gold.
Should I start panic mode and start the gold what I don't have?
Regards
Constantin
Maybe everyone is getting rid of that nasty gold to buy more silver? 🤔
Jokes aside, I don't see any reason to panic sell anything. I just had a scroll through a couple of pages and there's both silver and gold on here for sale.
I sell items from time to time that don't fit my stack just to keep up some feedback so that if/when I do want to sell I'm not starting from nowhere. Any metals I do sell goes to buying more metals usually and I still add additional money to buy metals so the stack is growing too.
I'm sure someone else will join us 😁

Just ordered one of these, seems to have gone through ok, hell of a price. I really need to stop logging onto this forum for a while. Everytime I do I seem to end up a few hundred quid down! lol. Really not joking either 🙈
But if you're buying money.. Are you really spending anything at all? 🤔

Thanks for the feedback on that I've not yet purchased from them in UK . To be honest I've had milky brits from various dealers even the current year.
