Yes Yor right another reason i returned

Yes, it’s poor enough.

It’s like they just used the 5oz die with an extender instead of a die just dedicated to the 10oz and centralise the letters..

I've got the 10oz due today and already got the 5oz in hand I'll have a look to see if the lettering is the same size, I suspect it will be.

I'm grabbing an Allan key this evening and will free a 2oz silver.   Will post a few pics.

🤔😮have they not put something in the COA saying they don’t accept any responsibility for any damage if coin freed from the plastic?🤔😮😂

It looks savage out of the case. Yes, I thought the grease was scuff marks until mentioned..

I’ll give it a bit of a polish and shine and show the results this weekend

Nice very detailed photos Dave. A picture paints a thousand words but your video does all the talking (even though it’s silent). Nice to see the coin broken out of the capsule. Well done.

Own it and Love it.

(With thanks to 9x883 for the suggestion)

The raised edge lettering caused as much trouble back in 1818 :

"MY DEAR SIR, Saville Row, May 26, 1818.

THE raised letters on the edge of the crown piece are so much admired that I have determined to make the coinage upon this plan, notwithstanding all the difficulties which present themselves. I therefore beg you will set Jerome and Harrison to work to make the collars of these pieces. I mean that all the eight presses shall be employed in the coinage, and collars must accordingly be made for them all. The greatest care must be taken to have every collar as perfect as the one in which the pattern crowns were struck. As the crown pieces will be of the exact size of the pattern, the collars may be made without delay. As we are free from work, we have no excuse for not making these crown pieces perfect, and by using the eight presses, and keeping them constantly going, we shall soon get through the coinage, which will be unique and inimitable. Pray do not allow any difficulty to be thrown in the way, but follow this up as an order which must be enforced, and upon which I cannot hear of objections.

J. W. Morrison, Esq., &c. &c. &c. (Signed) Yours very sincerely, W. W. POLE"

The edge lettering required 3 blows, and the coins were expensive to produce, but as you can see Pole was having none it.

Finally got my 2 oz. silver yesterday.  Magnificent coin!  I like the presentation, too.  Case is great.  Well worth the cost, IMO.

Just opened my 5oz and I think there's something in the background field, which is annoying.

Send back?

Looking at the rest of the coin, you can also see where the metal didn't fill the edge lettering completely in a few places. Not really a problem in my eyes:

Also, while looking at the rest of the coin, is this normal?

Better to return and get a pristine one, that speck on the face would annoy me

Is anyone else getting lots of 500 Internal Server errors when trying to use the forum? I would have asked this in a more appropriate thread, but I can't actually navigate to it!

There were problems earlier … I just got a blank page, ok now. Try giving Chris a message he answered pretty quick to me earlier👍

I am so pleased that I bought this coin. The design looks so good in hand.

Here are some photos of my 2oz gold. I was lucky enough to have a low COA number of 8.

It looks great but has some curved indentations around the edge of the obverse between 12 and 3 o’clock. Does anyone know what has caused this? Should I return it to be replaced? Thanks for your input.
