Always thought this year of the dog coin looks a mess

The 2018 Year of the dog is one of my favourite coins!

The background (and the hole where the Chinese symbol is) is a real impression of a Labrador's nose.   The designer took this from their friends dog.

And that little dog looks as happy as Larry!

Happy new year to all of you. The New year starts with some interesting news. A whole lot of William coins are announced. Can't wait to see, if his tooth care works.

It also looks like on february 8 is coming a commemorative chibi coin for the pornstar with the biggest and most accurate hydrocephalus in the world.

If he at some point wears the crown, will there be teeth on every coin, or is it just for now? Would you stop buying sovereigns?

Nice photos, I wonder where they were from?

You missed out the Guernsey version:

Bit of a lighthearted topic but given that I'm relatively new to this whole coin collecting/buying thing, I'd love to see some ugly coins! It's a shame I can't really start it off with one of my own but I will say that I don't think I could bring myself to buy one with the face of George III.. :D

On a slightly related note, my first purchases were a couple of 2015 sovereigns and after since buying some oldies, I have to say that the new sovereigns look ugly in comparison! Much prefer the yellow gold look. All subjective of course but it'd be great to see some contenders.

How about we set up:

"The Ugly Coin Collectors Club"?

...and for those interested in punctuation, grammar, etc...

"The Ugly Coin Collector's Club"?

I would open up

"The Ugly Coin Hunters Lodge".

Illiterates and truants are welcome, inclusion is such a nice thing nowadays.

I'm not 100% sure, where i found them. If i remember right from a auction side as i was looking for something totally different. But everytime i see Williams teeth i know, they have to be shown here. I think it is a dentists conspiracy going on in the UK.🤣

They were originally from one of our (Chards) heritage sites, I am not sure which, but we have since replaced them with newer photos. The originals were probably photographed in 2003.

You might well have found them on an auction website. Many dealers and collectors "borrow" our photos, probably because they are the best!

Yes, you are right. Your photographer does a faboulos job. But i like the newly designed coins by him even more. 😂Somewhere i saw a three coin set of the Alderney William coins. If they would be in cupronickel available, i would have a christmas gift for my mother in law.

If you send us some photos of your mother-in-law, Doug could mock-up a coin.

We could propose the design to the Royal Mint!

Given the number of shockers in this thread it does seem like it could be worthwhile! I never expected it to take off in the way that it has but it's been a source of great amusement.

So what's the criteria for joining? I don't own any coins on which human teeth are visible so perhaps I'd be excluded :D

Speaking of teeth, it's always especially bad when an attempt is made at crafting each individual tooth. It just looks so wrong.

Also, TUCCC could make for a pretty great logo!
