Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

i used to think the screw capsules from the Royal Mint were the business but i find they come apart too easily and so i have changed my mind.

Always cast your vote - Spoil your ballot slip. Put 'Spoilt Ballot - I do not consent.' These votes are counted. If you do not do this you are consenting to the tyranny. None of them are fit for purpose.
A tyranny relies on propaganda and force. Once the propaganda fails all that's left is force.

Is this antique finish done by the Royal Mint or does a third party take the coin and alter it?

It'll be a third party. You can buy the chemicals to do this yourself. I must ask my dad if he's got this in his shed as he makes Tiffany lamps and uses this on the solder to alter the colour. Just rub off the excess. One way of selling on milk spotted coins by treating them with this I suppose.

Been to a antique fair today and bought a 1921 US Morgan Dollar, always wanted one to add to the collection so bought it, he wanted £25 but got him down to £18 so I'm happy with that. I might try and get a peace Dollar next

I'm no expert but I have a few sovereigns and this one doesn't look quite right, you sure the size and weight are correct, just good to be sure, wouldn't want someone to get ripped off by an eBay scammer.

Hi @morezone, stunning photos! The coin looks really nice. Is it true that the mintage is only 7,030 pieces?

That's what The Royal Mint have said so that will be the max mintage.

Today my 1997 silver maple arrived, well thumbed by the looks of it. Not the tidiest example I've got of this date:o

My wife surprised me in town today as we passed a stall and bought me this Cayman Island sterling silver $25 coin that weighs just a little over 51 grams.

The seller said he got them cheap as he did have three of them. A nice unexpected addition for my collection:)
