This arrived direct from the land down under.  Appears to be absolutely spotless - tempted to grade it.  I now have 5, 2, 1, and 1/2 ounce dragons.  Might have to do a family portrait some time.

(The strange patterning on the portrait seems to be a fluke reflection effect, rather than anything on the actual coin)

Yes it's weird. I think it is an artefact of the focus stacking.  Here's one of the 40 individual frames to prove it...

That's odd indeed.  I've never seen focus stacking do that.  Was there any transient lighting on some of the images perhaps?

I really like these sort of oddities. A horse and a lion operating a coin press, and coin blanks on the opposite side. Rumour has it, this is how coins are still made at the mint.

Good point, it's actually 65mm in diameter, so looks quite impressive and of course unusual. Just a quick comparison photo:

I have been looking at getting one just for the table. Have seen them at eye watering prices, and even graded for more. How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking? Stunning!
