Mine arrived today and thankfully I'm 3 for 3 for clean coins

I did think the box was ment to turn up with the 3rd release though but no joy

The box was meant to be with the third release based on the email they sent in Feb.

So...

Silvers look fine, great love them.

But....don't let the COA's fool you, they are two different coins.

The 2 oz Silver Proof had a 1 oz silver proof COA!!!

WHAT

THE

ACTUAL....

HOW does this happen - it's simple.

Someone is NOT very good at their job.

The box was meant to be with the second coin, but that just didn't happen!

So, the issue of the incorrect COA in my coin box might seem trivial to some. A mistake was made and the wrong COA was put in.

However in my opinion it is actually way bigger. COA's are only as good as the organization that issues them. This is an integrity question and makes you wonder about the way in which the packages are put together. How many coins are actually made, how many complete packages are correct?

I'm honestly very confused as to how this even happens.

Just been on phone to RM as having to delay postage of my order due to holiday.

He did say, but take it with a pinch of salt that the RM have been listening to feedback and atm have one "machine" to check proofs for imperfections. But due to timing not all can go into.

Sounds bull 💩 but just thought i'd share.

Thanks for sharing @Oliman

I cannot believe there are no high tech solutions for checking coins being made.

I personally think this is deeper when it comes to quality issues.

I would not be surprised if the camera technologies that check the coins immediately after striking are all good but the damage is happening later down the production line. How do the coins go from the dies to the capsules?

Something, somewhere is causing production issues and it's blind ignorance to just rely on technology at the early stage of production.

I think there should be a final check with cameras and humans before a product is sealed and put out for delivery.

It might add some time/cost to the final delivery, but you'd imagine they must be spending some amount on multiple re-deliveries and returns, which would offset...

If they eliminate the production defects their return rates would be minimal in my opinion

Sounds like the BBC "detector" vans, a load of rubbish!

The vans were real, it was only the stuff inside them that wasn't :D

From the starting blanks, I'm pretty sure all commemorative proofs are only handled and looked at by a human before being boxed. This is what should make it special, but it clearly doesn't work out like that.

Automated striking and non-human visual checks are things that happen in the circulating and bullion production lines.

Yes, you are not alone.

Not gonna lie - was really looking forward to the boxes. Have 3 sets of the 1 oz silvers, was going to send two sets off for grading and flog the two spare boxes on fleabay.

So much for that strategy!

It has taken nearly 12 months to get exactly nowhere with these display boxes. At what point does the royal mint admit they are just not very good at project management?

Hi Mine are the ones over £100 each (originally £95) - thats 2oz right??
just looked at my photos and they also say 1oz.

Im out at the moment, so cant check.

YES they are - will i have to send these back?
Im getting my microscope out on monday after all these posts, but mine look OK (parts from the eyelash LOL). ;)
It was a job tweezing that out with out touching the metal & I dont really want to expose them to the air.

No that’s 1oz.

They were originally £95, increased to £105 and now they’re refunding £10 to price them the same as the previous two.

I completely forgot I subscribed to this series then got the email with the overpriced coin which then apparently will be back down to normal price with a refund issue. Fine, whatever. Now the coins arrive but no box. Am I the only one pissed off about this? I signed up originally with an agreement the box would be received with the second coin. That didn't happen with them citing production delays but it would come with the third coin. That now hasn't happened. Their general sloppyness with pricing and general inability to deliver what they say they are going to deliver are unacceptable. At this point I think I'm up to more negative experiences ordering things from the mint than positive.

No i said about it on the other thread, and have sent the RM a moaning email.

false advertising but they know everyone will cancel this c**p after they get the box.So it's all bullshit :)

Now i have to wait upto 14 days for my refund to.

Glad I'm not alone with the annoyances of the boxes. This sort of thing just causes unnecessary bad feelings towards the RM. This at a time when disposable income for all households across the land is about to drop dramatically...  not a smart way of doing business when you sell products no one actually needs.

I'll write a good whinging email not that I expect that will get any meaningful response apart from making me feel a bit better.

And they’re refunding £20 for the two coin set (and presumably the 2oz too) within 14 days, according to the RM customer services guy I spoke to the other day.
