Excited if this is bullion at last... it looks bullion.

Yes it should be bullion. One of the German private dealers has them on pre-sale by bullion price, with expected availability end of September.

Any interest in the Tolkien coin coming out Monday?  I like the design- may have to grab a proof silver.

Yes I really like the design, I have a silver ring with the same design on it that Ive had for over 40 years and like so many others Tolkien's books and I go back rather a long way

Would you believe, I contacted the royal mint only this morning to ask when the Tolkien coin was due to be released and they told me it would be out towards the end of summer but they haven't decided on a specific date yet!! Along with quality inspection issues I'm struggling to respect the royal mint these days and use them for minimum business

Where do you see it being released on Monday? Or did you ask Royal Mint?

I thought they would release it on September 22, but then again, they missed a trick with releasing the Star Wars coin on May 4, so the release schedules probably aren’t being decided by fans, or taking the fandoms into any real consideration.

I received this email today:

Paying tribute to the life and legacy of a gifted writer, skilled poet and respected scholar, soon we will celebrate JRR Tolkien on a UK £2 coin.

Don’t miss the opportunity to honour the man who created an entire mythology of captivating tales from his invented realm of Middle-earth.

Available to buy from 9am BST, 21 August 2023.

Yep thanks for posting, I just received the same email myself, clearly royal mint internal communication is rather poor eh
