I don't know why but I now have a mental image of Bully in an executive office, walls adorned with those clocks with little placards underneath saying New York, Hong Kong, Frankfurt etc etc

Doubt that sat in pjs working from home - The only thing I have is New Pork and Frankfurters with my soup I had for lunch! No clocks - as time waits for no man!

Easy to wipe down 👍

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

"There is no such thing as public money, there is only taxpayers' money"

Let not England forget her precedence of teaching nations how to live.

One thing I am seeing is bearish divergence on the GBP/USD pair if powell defends the dollar from the FOMC its not good for metals gold/silver nor GBP.

Funny how I haven't seen all the Bull Sh!t from the usual sources & dealers today following the crash.
I reckon prices fell because we have just launched a rocket to knock an asteroid out of its track that is heading our way, too close for comfort.
If the world is going to end in a year best sell and enjoy what time is left, otherwise buy - take your pick.
Seems as good a reason as linking to some government announcement / global crisis etc.

Give me strength - the markets are as dumb as the general public. 😛
On the plus side at least drops like this can in some way be predicted, remember that Nasdaq flash crash last year - utter madness.

Third jabs not selling as fast as hoped. Javids cousin who is in big pharma needs a fire sale to pay for that Range Rover he was buying his wife for Xmas

meanwhile Hancocks sister is still sitting on a pile of masks and hand gel. Got to shift that.

I know scary new South Africa variant. !    Funny how you never get a variant from somewhere ‘Reassuring’.  The Swiss variant or maybe the Surrey variant

My point exactly 😉

I think the point is down to demographics and scientific infrastructure.

Where have the known variants come from? China in the first place, Brazil, India, South Africa - all large countries, large migratory populations and in South Africa's case, lots of migration from other countries in Southern Africa (it appears this variant probably originated in Botswana).

Crucially the above all have sufficient facility to routinely undertake widespread genetic sequencing of positive cases, hence the discovery of new variants in these countries. Botswana does not do this in the same way that more economically developed countries do.

It would not be a surprise if future variants were found in countries like Mexico, Indonesia, Turkey etc, who share a similar demographic and economic circumstance.

If you have shares in mining companies, keep an eye on where they operate.

On covid, a few things. Delta variant is the Kent variant thats more transmissable though lower danger than earlier.  Variants are discovered all the time from across the world, however nearly all the sequencing is done in Europe where they have the expertise and equipment. Example even the original Covid was genetically sequenced and identified in a German lab.

The latest variant was found a couple fo weeks ago, the identification release earlier this week.  It takes time to go from sample to full sequencing. The fear is there are an awful lot of mutations in this variant, several seen before in more danergous variants, and some new.  However there is no real data yet on whether this i more transmissible or dangerous to infected, nor data on vaccine response.  The market reaction is all due to fear these will be worse.

Trade accordingly.
