Could this be it? An overstrike from a sixpence die.
Its hard to tell I would ideally need to see a clearer image of a sixpence overstrikes to compare it properly.
My main concern is, will detract from the value of the coin, i.e.. is it just worth its billion weight etc.

Here’s an odd one.
This has been looked at by a few of our excellent members via PM’s but so far no concensus on what is happening here with the last 8 as clearly it can’t be an 8 due to 1838 being first yr if Victoria etc.
To me it looks like it could possibly be an overstrike 6 over an 8, which would put it as a correct age 1836

Its a nice coin, but strange, most of the details seem really good apart from the hair detail above Victorias ear which is near flat, i wouldn't personally grade it, but its your choice
I've just had a closer look at it with a loop and my picture is a bit misleading with the reflections above the ear, but I think your right I will give grading a miss on this one.

Today I received
1950 Gold Saudi Arabia Guinea, pretty chuffed with it.
Interestingly it has a small scratch mark just above the base of the palm tree on the obverse side (the one without the swords). The guy I got it from had another one in really bad shape but interestingly it also had a minute scratch mark in exactly the same spot. After googling loads of images of the coin it looks like it may have been the standard place traders used to scratch this coin with a pin head to see if they were real gold.
2018 Equilibrium (Prooflike) 1oz - stunning detailing.
2018 China 1 oz Silver Dragon Dollar Restrike (PU)……..Yes another one!
2018 Barbados 1 oz Silver Caribbean Seahorse (BU)

Sovereign Errors, Overdates and Varieties
in Gold
Posted · Edited by Kritika
Yes getting confused myself 😊
To avoid confusion, here is my one again and the 1/2 from Marsh plate 142A on p19 kindly posted by shortstcks68
My coin is a full sov, and I must say it looks realy close, but if the sixpence die was only ever used on 1/2 Sovs then that can’t be the error can it?
Or did they also mistakenly use a sixpence die for full Sovs as well?
