Have you seen green gold? The colour is formed by alloying gold with trace amounts of silver and cadmium.
It was popular in jewellery during the Art Nouveau period (and imo looks rather stunning when done correctly).
As an example, the leaves in this piece are green gold.

I was just going on the photos. I've never seen one in hand. They look gold on the photos.
I saw a 2022 sovereign in the flesh a few months ago and the colour was as ghastly as I remember from the 2000 half sovereign I used to have. The modern ones are just not nice. Nothing beats a Vicky or George V sovereign, or even a Gillick.

Recently, the IMF published a working paper on the use of gold as international reserves. Working papers are just research in progress and do not represent any kind of official policy on the part of the IMF, but it is interesting that the IMF is following this. An interesting table from the report is this:

Just some before and after pictures,  did this 1/2 1913 today,  it's revealed a few copper spots that I will remove and show you the results if it's successful .
The coin still has a decent amount of original lustre.

I have been doing a research on Rhodium to justify the current high price of this special metal. I have found the below info, please add anything you can think of.
    Rhodium unique metal characteristics:
1***  The 2nd highest metal reflective of light (visible spectrum). But since It does not corrode or tarnish by the atmosphere at room temperature therefore it can be the 1st reflective of light (because silver tarnishes in room temperature). Here are the top 3 reflective metals at different wavelengths spectrum:
    1) Silver.
    2) Rhodium.
    3) Platinum.
This is why they plate some Jewelry with Rhodium (since silver would tarnish, and Platinum is just a slightly lower in reflection than Rhodium at some wavelength spectrum).
2*** It conducts electricity better than any other platinum-group metal (PGMs) which are Platinum, Palladium, Rhodium, Ruthenium, Iridium, and Osmium. This is why it's used in a critical devices like the heart pacemakers and spaceships devices.

3*** Of the three precious metals (Rhodium, Platinum and Palladium) currently used in vehicle catalytic converters, Rhodium has by far the highest activity for the removal of nitrogen oxides (NOx) from the exhaust. It also has very high activity for the oxidation of hydrocarbons (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) and very good resistance to the poisons present in the exhaust.

4*** Swiss researchers at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) and the ETH Zurich developed a new chemical process that uses the sun's thermal energy to convert carbon dioxide and water into high energy fuels. This chemical process involves a new material combination of cerium oxide and small amounts of Rhodium as a catalyst. Their discovery is a major step toward the chemical storage of solar energy (which has been a very tricky problem for scientists).

Cash out, down size and become mortgage  free if you are not all ready.  It's nice to have investments and look like a finical whizz sometimes the most boring and conservative actions will serve you better in the long term.   Paying off all debt is a life changer and no one owns you.
We are all programmed to think we are better off when we earn more money,  the reality we are far more better off when we are paying less out.  I look at reducing outgoing as increasing my income value.
Money is not fungible like it's  taught.   A £10 note in ones persons hands is not worth £10 in the next persons when you look at income/outgoings ratio.
£10 in my hands =  3.33% of my monthly outgoings commitment
£10 in my friends hands = 0.66% of his monty outgoings
He needs to earn £50 per hour to everyone of my £10 per hour just to keep the same ratio.
I know some people with great jobs earning loads but their outings are moronic and what for a 4x4 and a bigger house?    We make ourselves slaves no one else needs to do it for us.

    New to this..

When the portrait version comes out...  How rare is it?
I mean - it has two queens on it - Elisabeth on one side - Victoria the other..

Is this unique? - are there many coins in the last few centuries like this?

The two longest reigning female monarchs, on one coin - Collectible Coin Heaven - or just a curiosity
(when the Queen is no longer with us, it won't happen again either)

    A bit of fun.

For the next large TSF prize draw to advertise and bring awareness of the forum, which will be in around a month or two. Should we double the prize and have 2x 5oz silver bars up for grabs, 2 different winners each winning a 5oz silver bar. If you think we should then like this post.

If this post gets 100+ likes we will give away 2x 5oz silver bars. (I have set this target deliberately low so that it is easily obtainable)

If this post reaches 200+ likes, we will add a small bonus
