Cheap maples and Brits - Sharps Pixley, fill your boots

    £22.30 for maples

    £23-24 for brits

    Singles too!

Just received mine - ordered a pair of the cheapest "mixed date" maples and britannias along with a couple of other bits.

The maples I received were both shiny new 2021 ones, and the brits were 2020, so that was nice.

Still fairly good prices on the single coins at the moment, especially with the free delivery.

Yes there is very much collectors of such coins. I think one danger of such a collection would be if i was to own such a collection would be if i died would someone knowingly or not try to sell such a collection? I would assume that a collection like what @LawrenceChard would be safe from this.

As long as any fakes are clearly labelled as such, what could go wrong?

If someone knowingly sells the fakes as real coins after you've popped off, then that's squarely on them.

Thank you all very much for your detailed replies - it’s really opened my eyes to different options & ideas!

I suppose my next question is.. what is the best way to stack silver.. bars or coins?

I’ve currently got a combination of both but mainly 1 oz silver coins - here is a video of me unboxing my 100 oz stack, let me know what you think?

Thanks again for all the replies & advise!

I noticed you've sensibly scribbled over the addresses on the parcels, but you might still be inadvertently revealing your address to the world by not fully obscuring those 2D barcodes. Amongst other data, they contain house number and postcode. I wouldn't expect them to be easily readable (i.e. a phone app probably won't recognise them when partly redacted) but much of the data is still visible.

I do still collect these though 🙂

Wow, what a collection! I remember buying a RARDEN round from the tank museum shop several years ago (probably for the same price as a 1oz silver maple to keep things topical) but I have no idea what type it is, let alone how many different ones there were!

Is that a Peak Engineering turret on the FV432?

  5. I imagine everyone would benefit from having a few known fakes so they know what kind of things to look out for.

Is it legal to buy and own counterfeit coins if you know, or suspect, them to be counterfeit? Would it be legal to import the same?

That's a noce compliment, and a good question.

We have been asked before, see below:

It's overdue time we had a Photographing Coins blog / info page on chards.co.uk

    @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer

It might help to stop some of our less ethical competitors "stealing" our images.

    😎

That's great!  I knew the lighting would be the main trick, but I had expected something like a few diffused light boxes or a massive ring flash.  Shooting through a semi mirror hadn't occurred to me at all.

Reminds me of the pellicle mirror technology in the Canon EOS-1N RS camera - an analogue 35mm film camera that could take an astounding 10 photos per second due to its motor drive and because there was no need to wait for the fixed pellicle mirror to move up and down between shots (making it great for sport, as there was also very little shutter blindness for the photographer).

Nice bar, can I ask where you buy?

on both local store online they dont ship in Italy :(

I'm in the UK and found the easiest way from our perspective is to buy things like this on eBay from Europe because the value is low enough for the eBay platform to add the import VAT at the time of purchase.

That means it arrives fairly quickly and you will not have to pay any VAT or exorbitant handling fees when it arrives.

However! It seems to have gone very wrong in my case, as I ordered both items separately and paid VAT up-front on both, along with two lots of postage; but the seller posted them in the same parcel so the combined value took it over the threshold for prepaid VAT, so I got a message from royal mail saying I will have to pay VAT etc.

    Double vatted!

This wil be fun to sort out, but at least it's not a massive amount.

I could have omitted my comments about "ct's", but what I said actually happened; I spent time wondering what ct's meant, and if Eon had taken the time to spell the word in full, using 6 character instead of 4, I would have understood perfectly and instantaneously. Forcing your readers to try to work out what you are saying is lazy and arrogant. I am aware that most people nowadays don't know how and when to use apostrophes, but if you are going to write commercially, then at least try to make an effort to learn.

I had a similar (albeit brief) moment wondering what "currency opr" was when I read https://www.chards.co.uk/info/payment-ID

    :D

  9. Royal Mint bullion misprice?

    They are selling a tube of 10 x 1oz Queen's Beasts 2019 Falcons for only £13,978 (only 2 tubes left): https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-coins/gold-coins/queens-beasts-2019-falcon-1oz-gold-ten-coin-tube/

Although clearly above spot, that seems like a mistake (or certainly a bargain!) when you consider an individual Falcon coin has a significantly higher premium, e.g. Royal Mint is selling these coins individually for £1,756, Chards is £1,680, or £2,641 from BbP(!). The premium on the tube of ten Falcons is very close to the premiums on the tubes of 2021 Britannias and Queen's Beasts completers, which can be bought individually for around £1,350.

Indeed, they also have two 10 x 1oz tubes of gold Queen's Beasts Dragons in stock, but those are £17,045 - which I suspect was supposed to be the price of the Falcons too...
