Czechs have twice as much gold at home than Czech National Bank

The gold holdings of private households in the Czech Republic are twice as high as the gold reserves of the Czech National Bank, suggests a new survey conducted by gold investor Zlato.cz.

According to official data, private individuals in the Czech Republic currently own 19.35 tons of gold. This is double the amount of gold stored in the Czech National Bank vaults, which stood at 10.6 tons at the end of 2021.

“Such a disparity is quite common in richer countries,” Zlato.cz analyst David Marášek told the Czech News Agency.

For example, German households own more than 9,000 tons of gold, while the Bundesbank has 3,362 tons. In Italy, some 6,418 tons of gold are privately owned, compared to 2,452 tons owned by the Central Bank and in France it is 4,714 tons of private-owned gold compared to 2,436 tons in the bank.

So how much do we think is held by private citizens in the UK?

Always cast your vote - Spoil your ballot slip. Put 'Spoilt Ballot - I do not consent.' These votes are counted. If you do not do this you are consenting to the tyranny. None of them are fit for purpose.
A tyranny relies on propaganda and force. Once the propaganda fails all that's left is force.

I'll say very low, much lower than the french population - perhaps half the amount.

Besides, nearly all of the UK forum members here have suffered at least one tragic boating accident. Otherwise, it could have been slightly more. 😬

@James32 Owns around 6 tons all by himself!!!! 😂

It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.

Forget the gold-standard. More like Boat-standard.

Seems like gold-price is somehow connected to the quality of boats.

The worser the condition of the boats, the more accidents, the lesser gold on open market and the higher waterlevels rise.

Accidents happen, I think it’s with us being an island. I was surprised to hear how many people on here in Birmingham (owned) a fishing boat. 😆

According to official data,

What is this data? I think it's practically impossible to quantify how much gold is held privately.

Do Czechs have to declare their holdings by law?

I think these are nothing more than estimates and most likely inaccurate.

No-one but me knows how much I hold and I'm sure you are all the same!

I would estimate that private gold ownership is very low in the UK- we care too much for other assets. Private gold ownership in Asia is another matter and we know that he who holds the most gold makes the rules.

Nothing funny to add, sorry 😊

I hear Risih Sunak is doing a deal with @James32 to bail this country out with his gold stack.

Fishy poosack is too busy lining his missus pockets with plenty of contract with Infosys (shes on the board) by using IR35.

We are losing all our quality contractors

Yup a very good reason to hoard it, gift it, bury it, trade it, leave your fiat debt money under a few k in your bank for life. Be asset rich and cash poor
