I ended up securing the 2oz silver and the pre order for the portrait 2oz. Wanted gold but very pleased to have finally bagged something after disappointment last year.

Quite the day, was also doing royal mail online training and had 2 customer service calls going at one point!

The royal mint was pretty unclear what was what, ended up ordering both a single coin and the two coins with one now one pre order thinking they were each different - then spent an hour on the phone getting the single canceled.

Time for a relax before my first day on the job delivering mail in storm barra😂

Had a gold in my basket and it disappeared before I could checkout, as usual. Was probably the closest I've come though.

Really shouldn't happen that way  ( imho) once in your basket you should get 3 minutes to checkout or something along those lines.

I must say I would tend to agree😁

😁 seriously though you were in the queue and managed to get in early enough compare to most 👀 get the coveted prize into your basket and poof....like magic it disappears ( not cool ) allow a reasonable time to check out.

Unless it was in your basket for 10 minutes and you were playing will I wont I 😅

By the time I got in there was only 2oz silver ( which I'm grateful for)

I was lucky enough to get a queue number of about 100 but the computer/broadband/website was going slow. I certainly did not dawdle, had time to get a 5oz silver after the gold disappeared.

In the queue at 8.30 on 4 browsers didn't do much for me, best potion on my Opera was 1200  the others were 4000+, in the end I managed a 2oz silver and have spent the rest of the day chasing a 2oz gold which I did get on the secondary market for a lot more than RRP.

No special exemptions for dealers on these, no special treatment or allocations, just down to plain luck good or bad.

A very expensive day..

Some dealers tend to get more stock for sale than perhaps you would expect.

I wonder how they manage that. I have a few theories...

Do the dealers have a cap on the premium they can charge by the Royal Mint - If they have been allocated some (obviously not on secondary marked, just at launch)

I was 176 in the queue.. but all the gold had gone (limited to 350 - so half or more had gone to distributors?)

so just got 20z silver and signed up for the portrait aswell

I may have secured a 2oz gold (a lot more), and potentially the follow on portrait as well - sorting it all out today.  big thanks to the distributor, for ringing me up, his email had ended up in spam!

Does anyone know what the Royal Mint original prices are for all the coins - not just the limited amount offered yesterday..

an example How much was the 2oz gold plain edge coin (limited 125) for example. or the 5oz, etc,etc and all the other various sizes?

How do you sign up for the portrait? Don't shoot me for asking please!

I believe early( low number) queue members has the choice of buying a continuation set ( meaning they are guaranteed the portrait coin) but was long gone by the time I got in , queuing again on release in March is the only option for me.

Although this time even lesser numbers available considering all the pre-allocated continuation sets.

I would be interested to know if people think low certificate numbers make a difference to value of not only the Gothic Crown but other proof issues as well. And how low can you actually get, I have never seen anyone with Cert No1 for arguments sake.

Wouldn't make one bit of difference to me personally

Ah, so much for us poor slobs that could not get in there. Eat sh-t and die! That is horrible & the fact that I have been a customer of theirs for many years means naught.

Being a customer means naff all unless you have an account manager and are spending multiple multiple thousands yearly.

Imagine being on the flip side of that argument ( you spent 70k last year and got nothing but I who spent less that 5k in two years did??)

Haven't received the gothic yet so cant attest to that.

But what I can say is that my sovereign set has the number 69 and I'm going to exploit that fact when the day to sell comes😁

Close the site and sales to the poor then :P or make it fair. But ofc you need all the normal people to buy all the s**** you make for the rest of the year.

So every customer should mean something.

I remember years ago putting up a coin for sale with a generic picture, the cert said No1, I had no idea it would cause an influx of buyers who ended getting quite angry with me when they didn't get No1, so I stopped that practice pretty sharpish :(

I see both sides of the coin ( excuse the pun ) but dont begrudge those who spend big striking it big.

All the big companies play games and create artificial rarities year after year and we keep lining up 🤷‍♂️
