Do you wear cotton gloves? 🧤

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

So I know this is a bit of a controversial topic, but I wanted to know your thoughts on wearing cotton gloves when handling precious metals.

I own a pair but I’ve never worn them 😮

I made a youtube video discussing it a while back.

Thanks for the coin @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer

Yep, i wear them, every time, i have a mate who is an idiot and he cant keep his hands off his whenever he takes one off me and i only let him open a capsule if he is going to take it as i know he will have his grubby mits all over it and he has at least two now with clear finger prints showing on them, i take mine out of capsules to test them if i buy from a new seller but wear my gloves, and proofs never get to breath fresh air..... and my mate never gets to see them!!!! 😂

It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.

I wear cotton underpants, does that count?

Many years ago, I tried wearing cotton gloves for handling coins, but they make it more difficult to grip accurately, so slowed me down, I also got through about 2 pairs per day.

Latex are quite good for grip and feel, and the nitrile ones are also quite good.

In addition to helping to protect coins from fingerprints, they also help to keep your hands clean. Circulation coins, even gold sovereigns, often are quite dirty, and can harbour "bugs".

If you ordered the coin and capsules at the same time, you could have saved on postage.

Thanks for the mention.

🙂

'Do you wear cotton gloves? 🧤'

Bully does, it stops him getting blisters 😉 😇

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

Always....oils,dirt,sweat are always on your fingers..I was told by a very well known coin dealer..no matter what coin you handle..Wear cotton gloves..never handle coins with bear hands/fingers if you want to keep your coins in the condition you buy them. Otherwise contamination from your fingers will eventually have negative consequences on your coins over the months or years....now whether that is fact or not...I always wear cotton gloves when handling coins.... it doesn't cost much for a pair of gloves and to be on the safe side....what have you got to lose with extra protection...Something I've always done..

Cotton gloves are cheap multiples of x10 x20 x50..not much to spend to handle your coins..never leave home without them....cotton underpants @LawrenceChard...can't imagine the contamination on those..😄😄😄😄😄
