2022 Sovereign design revealed?

Recommended Posts

Some of you may have seen my post a few days ago about the 2022 sovereign I received that was out of its capsule and loose in the box.

I’ve been able to have a closer look in daylight this weekend under a 10x loupe and I’m undecided wether to keep it or send it back for a replacement. It does have ‘dust’ like particles on the coin and I haven’t removed it from the capsule so these photos are taken through the capaule.

I’m confident that most of the scratches are on the capsule.

I’m just undecided what to do.

If you do end up sending your coins back to rm don't expect a confirmation email saying they have received it.

Or, like when I returned my Trial of the Pyx coin to be repackaged the right way up, you might just receive it back 3 weeks later in exactly the same state you sent it off in - complete with my own covering note and zero explanation from them why it was being returned to me without doing anything to it!

Was yours out of the capsule too?

What are the white dots on the proof frosting on yours?

Your guess is as good as mine 🤷‍♂️ the frosting was out as well as all the spots it was packed in that condition, capsule was still sealed, granted it rattled I found the qc sticker laughable

I think you need to set yourself up the appropriate environment and have a look at the coin bare???

Otherwise it will always be in the back of you're mind ( is it the coin or capsule)

I didn't/don't like the coin as I think the design is lazy and it's just been played safe so opted for refund as I wouldn't be able to sell it in its condition

Yeah that's completely fair and understandable, I've opted for a exchange but it's not the end of the world if that doesn't pan out.

can't you open the capsule and check? being super careful ofc :) 8th/9th photo down has some marks either on the coin or capsule.

then if it's all on the capsule keep it :) As it don't look bad overall.

When did you send yours back and have you had any communication from them?

I’m really on the fence with what to do with mine. My half sovereign is perfect, flawless really.

So you sent yours back then in the end.

Yeah it was bugging me and once I used a brand new loupe, the Mark's were more evident plus the chipped capsule.

Too many negatives for a high premium coin and how could I morally ever move it on knowing it was less than perfect.

I’m very torn with what to do, if I open the capsule it’s going to get dust and god knows what on it.

I would of course be extremely careful but might I be doing more harm than good and if it is all on the capsule then I’ve opened the coin up to dust and whatever else.

If I send back to the mint, I might get a coin in worse condition despite it rattling around the box when I received it.

I think the more you look the more you find lol,I spotted a small spot on mine that looks dull in colour or like a gold spot etc.

But can only see it under a 40x loupe,So just kept the thing as looks great to the naked eye :)

I had to replace that cracked capsule on mine, the push capsules are abit of a pain over the screw in ones :(

Just gotta be super careful, can't you just pop the top of and take a look :) leaving the coin in the other half of the capsule.

Seeing all these coins that have been sent back already makes me a bit worried. I haven't received my sovereign yet. Worried that I'm going to get sent someone else's return. If I get anything at all that is...

This was my first purchase direct from RM as well as my single biggest outlay to date, and it would be fair to say that I'm not loving it so far!

Still, hoping for the best...
