Have you removed it from the capsule for a better look? Could it be anything else?

I have removed it from the capsule yes. there are milk spots under the MMXIX. there are also 2 to the right of the head of the women.

@JosephM - To be clear, I did not doubt your word.

I asked for “proof” so that it can be documented, by pics, that these expensive proof silver coins did indeed get milk spots, days after being struck.

If you can help me in how to show picutres of these milk spots id be more than happy to. but as I said showing the spots on a camera on a proof field. quite hard maybe during daylight itd be easier?

Man that is disappointing. I agree 100% with what @AndrewSL76 said earlier - it is one of the most stunning coins I've laid my eyes on. That just makes these quality issues all the more disappointng and concerning. Seeing any spots this early in raises alarm bells for what the future holds for these coins.

If i could of afforded the gold i would have definately went with it. Too much money to risk. For 2 ounces of silver.

I’m almost frightened to get mine out and have another look.......scary...........

Will look tomorrow......

Ouch.....milk spots, that is going to destroy the premium for these coins. Many dealers and individuals will now resort to dipping just to get them out the door and now cannot be trusted as being in mint state.

Something tells me we haven't seen the end of Una and the Lion....perhaps next year they will release a "brilliant uncirculated" version with a mintage of "only 20,000", and for Black Friday perhaps an enhanced reverse proof with William Wyon's signature as privy mark. Or maybe I shouldn't give them any ideas...

Too late. You've just done it. Una should be put to bed now to enjoy what exclusivity she's got left. Let's hope that the Mint steer clear of a mass produced BU version - something they couldn't resist when it came to the 2019 Kew Gardens 50p coin.

The danger being that they do like returning to best sellers.

Own it and Love it.

For someone who is very new to the proof coin scene, I love the look of this coin. Looking to invest in the 2oz but just got lumped with a hefty car bill!

What sort of return are you guys looking to have if you flip the coin at the later date? As this would be my strategy.

It's literally worth its weight in gold (or in silver - depending on whatever one you're after). Dealers won't pay you extra for proofs. They're just interested in the gold content. Apart from that, it's worth whatever somebody such as a highest bidder collector is willing to pay for it.

Do your homework by keeping an eye on what they sell for on the secondary market (if they show up on it). That's how much collectors will be willing to buy them for, not the prices some unscrupulous companies try to sell them for.

Own it and Love it.

There is a gold Una on eBay now........the asking price is 13,349.00 but the seller is open to offers.

Thanks Andrew, I wonder when the first few will sell in secondary market and for what. Will be the foundation price to work from and set the bar. I can't honestly see many at all ever coming to market it's that nice a coin in the flesh and nicely beefy in weight at 2oz. If everyone just HODL's for long term that can only be a good thing? I think!

I can see this person receiving a fair few offers below 8k - and I imagine that they will be refusing all of them. If i had one, I would do what you have done and send it to the vault!! I bought the silver version as an investment to add to my safe box for retirement, but the more I look at it the more I think it's one to pass on down the line.

Agree Paul. This is probably a genuine 'blue chip' investment.

It will be tough as you see them flipped for £8k but think longer term. (you should've bought 2!) 😄

Depends on whether these are the only versions of this coin the RM releases.

If they start milking it... 😒

Well I’m sure every flipper will want as much as they can get.  So in a way we’re all greedy 😅

I think the very lower amount that have resurfaced in the secondary market for flipping speaks volumes & is very encouraging, just two from private sellers.

One was withdrawn and now this one listed today

Both priced over well over 100%+ the list price.

Still no concrete 100% confirmed paid for sales

I think those who have bought the gold Una are planning to hold or recognise what its potential 'may' be in years to come, which is why so few have appeared for quick profit flipping

Getting anyone to part with £4k on a whim or a hunch is a hard sell

I have no intention of selling mine as i recognise what it 'may' be worth in years/decades to come. As @Roy says a 'blue chip' investment.  It will probably never happen but there is no reason why this cant be worth as much as the original issue from the 1840s as it is half the mintage, guaranteed to be MS69/MS70 condition as no one will be handling them. If none ever come to market but demand is there, it will only push prices up

Its never going to be a coin that sells for melt.

It has everything going for it, aside from price £

I'm keen to see what the next in the series is, what it sells for, same mintage ? etc.  The next coin if it is as nice (ie gothic crown) may make the series far more desirable and add to Una's appeal
