A truly eclectic haul in todays post,

A full tube of mint state threepences still in the sandhill tube
An 1860 shield sovereign with large O for zero in date (Marsh 43B)
An absolutely stunning ultra high relief 'thinking man' 10oz silver bar from Argentia Precious Metals, part of the Ultra-High Relief Sculptural Art Collection.  Not my usual thing but I could not resist this one, bought from our very own @BackyardBullion

They could be stamped with a die that's had the impression machined into it.

High precision casting for engineering often still involves some surfaces being machined to tolerance.

The manufacturer's web site (https://www.argentiametals.com/) talks about die technology, and the reverse has an impression stamped into it, so it's a pretty good assumption that these bars are minted.

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

You pipped me to that very lovely 10oz bar. Absolutely no hard feelings though as it's clearly gone to a good home! :)

Thank you for the heads up! Only one slight issue, you see, after i missed out on that bar, i started looking at other shiny things. Then i saw the new Tudor Beasts Seymour Unicorn is available for pre order and a couple of the 10oz happened to fall into my basket. 😂 Currently got a somewhat limited PM budget as some other investments are taking priority at the moment.

Pics to follow in due course!

Most of the detail is still visible - I think gVF or thereabouts, although folks might grade coins that old a bit more leniently.  Old and rare enough, I suspect, to be worth grading. Maybe have a chat to @GoldDiggerDave about it.

1820 sovereign in beautiful condition unsure whether it’s worth grading. Not an expert on numismatics so wouldn’t mind an honest second opinion. Definitely VF - EF possibly. May not look the best on these photos

Anything of this age that does not return a details grade would cover the costs of grading as a minimum, likely mid-AU on that I should think, maybe mid-high, so yes very much worth it

@Orpster @Silverlocks that’s the issue with grading I personally think it should get AU grade. If I got an MS grade on it I would be very surprised. I could show it to different people and another person might say GVF. It all depends on the grader. I do appreciate the opinions as I’ve only sent out a few coins and haven’t been lucky. Anyone else please feel free to give me an honest opinion as I’m still weighing it up.

At the end of the day, it all depends the reason for grading. If you are trying to add extra value to sell on, then grade. If it is to keep, I would not bother.  Grading will not lose your any profit unless it comes back cleaned. To me that is a keeper
