Send to Ncs and they will get rid of it.

Seeing more and more of this. I have 2 with the burn.
When I spoke to NGC on Friday they recon the damage could be caused by the flips splitting and the rubber bands they use contacting the coins, then the chemicals in the band's being the issue. It would kinda make sense as the damage is usually the same size on all coins.
I'm doing a rubber band test on a bullion silver coin to see if I can get it to happen. So if grading I'd say send in a capsule from now on just in case.

On nice, if they are doing them I'll get a graces and gothic to go with the Una bar. Thanks.

Have they confirmed they are doing them?

They still charge for conservation fee for analysis even if your coin isn't conserved... As far as I know
Not true. You only get charged if they conserve it.

As the coin is in a holder graded 70, then burning must have happened after grading?
That's my thinking too, I'll bring it up with NGC cos I'm far from impressed.

Spotted on bookface earlier. More mysterious 'burning' issues with silver sent to ngc(copied and pasted)
" Well... the burn has returned. 2 different gothic crowns sent to NGC, both have the same "burn" mark on them in different places, that wasn't there before sending, one a portrait and one an arms.
That's me done sending silver to NGC for grading now, 2 coins now worthless (one is a 70 grade too lol!) "Those are my coins. Very frustrating.

Nice grade shame about the size of the slab
Yeah they kinda need a middle ground with some of these. Could be worse, could be the 5oz gold in the same size slab, they look really small.

My portrait 5oz silver just got a pf70, so that's something I guess. Lovely coin but will get sold too.

I'd be surprised if these even had NCS, none of my graces or gothics had NCS as it wasn't needed. I always ask for it just in case but it rarely gets done on moderns from experience.

Well, we cant all have 70's - so my portrait goes back to not be replaced cos its such bad quality and the gold arms gets a 69, not had the best success with this series. Shame as my graces did really well. All gonna get sold now, had enough with this series.
50/50 so far on the silvers - more with NGC atm.

That may be bullion, they are 2022 with the new designs . Cos they don't change the bullion one so that would be my guess is what that quote is from.

Do you know, why the gazzette announcement says, that there could be a 2 OZ Britannia in different ages, OR the 2021 2 OZ Britannia with lion?
One has 3 women on which is the 3 ages, the other has a woman with a shield with a lion on.... Maybe that's it.

Its stupid I am still waiting on both my 5oz Gothics...
I think my 5oz portrait has been dispatched , despite still waiting for the arms version... crazy.
I'm just in the process of sending my 2oz gold portrait back due to quality issues. and my 2oz gold arms got a 69 grade, so not much luck with this series for me.

Nah joking aside, it's frustrating when you don't get something you want and are stuck having to pay more. It's like when I went into Woolworths and they didn't have those coconut mushroom I like but the pick and mix stall did outside but they were 10p per 1/4 more so I went all out for Woolworths and said they need to change their business model and reported them to trading standards and everything... And where are they now huh.... Yeah I did that people.
I did buy the sweets from the other seller also for the extra money.

They will do that as they did it previously. There is a 2018 sotd for this.
