Another auction win for a great price.  Looks to be in perfect condition (marks are on capsule) and should grade well.
I love these proof coins from the 90s - a great colour compared to the stuff we get now.

2 OZ masterpiece collection 3G by the EIC. Not a absolute stunner comparing to the RM coin, but should also become a nice series.

Little delivery today, a few tubes and capsules to save some space and tidy up the small bit of space in the safe...and a few more ounces to take up that saved space 🤭

Thanks to @Roy and @stefffana for the generous donation payment for the coins and the silver bull  🐂 going to my son.
Made me feel very humbled and think of friends I served with sadly lost with the Afghani coin and the coin from Sierra Leone.  Some good times and bad.  I will treasure them forever💙. I have my military medals framed and thinking of placing the coins in the same frame.
thanks gentleman 😊 from my boy and

Just got home to this😊. My 1st platinum coin. Surprised there hasn’t been many more platinum metal coins in a platinum jubilee year. Maybe there are more coming but didn’t want to take the chance

Me too. I've been thinking and talking about this event for 2 years.
I knew it would be special and even without knowing the design put money aside for a reasonably large purchase.
I'm 60 years old and Elizabeth has been the Queen for all of my life. This Jubilee means something to me.
I've commented on my thoughts on the monarchy elsewhere, but God save The Queen 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Everyone is a flipper imo, just different strokes for different folks. unless you’re getting buried with them, but even then you are just keeping them for the flippers of the future.

Id be interested to hear from those that adamantly deem themselves not flippers as to what is an acceptable period of time to hold a coin to say you are a genuine collector and at the point is there an acceptable % uplift over what you paid on release that you deem not profiteering? Or do you need to sell at what you paid (irrespective of time and markets) to not be a flipper? if the market has crashed and you sell for what you paid is that ok?
i get it, ive been annoyed when ive missed releases but i dont hold it personally against those selling, yes some regret and undoubtedly envy but i just accept it, but everyone is different

The relief on those sterling crowns is phenomenal, they really are little art pieces. I tend to have middling to low 'grade' examples in hand so when you see an EF/uncirculated example up close it's something of an eye opener.
I'd happily carry a few of those around over a plastic note or a credit card, pocket space be damned. We really have gone backwards going forwards in some regards.

@Dawnbreaker, I think I have just seen the same 5 francs listed at Catawiki, so I assume they were relisted after you did not accept the seller's offer the first time?
Anyway, I would like to say that in my experience, Catawiki is pretty bad place for buying gold coins like this. Most historic gold coins that are offerred there are usually either in not very good condition, or the reserve price is too high, which is no wonder, if the seller needs to pay 12.5% provision. And so coins, fair premium on which should be 5-10% over spot, have reserve price set at 10-20% over spot, which some crazy buyers are still willing to bid, on top of which they however still need to pay 9% buyer's charge! Not mentioning postage, which is also often excessive.
It feels so bad, seeing people bid so much e.g. for modern restrikes, which could be sourced quite cheaper and in better condition and safer directly from the mint or from any dealer nearby. The same with common LMU coins, e.g. French rooster 20 francs, sold at €340 reserve + 9% buyer's charge + postage = over €380 a piece. The only winner is Catawiki, collecting 21.5% from every trade. I know bidding is fun, but really, beware! If a coin, which should carry a 5-10% premium, is listed at a platform operating with 21.5% margin, you are unlikely to get a good deal...

Here is the double layer one I had cut that takes the 1/4oz and 1oz RM screw capsules with the lip . The top layer holds 10 x1oz & 10 x 1/4oz and bottom layer holds 11 x 1/4oz .

New 19 sov box from RM. Very pleased with this, it is weighty and feels and looks high quality. I like the paperwork hidey hole and the velvet "lid"
The only downsides for me are that they could have done a bottom tray instead of the paperwork caddy and the 19 is an odd number, it could have been 20 easily and the one row of four may trigger my ocd in time! Also can't use currently as no caps in stock at RM 🤣

Nice SOTD sovereign.  Will be going off for grading (grubby marks are on the capsule).  Hoping to get a top grade for this low mintage coin (739).

Received this beauty in today. 2021 1/4oz Kookaburra gold proof. 500 max mintage. I had no idea the perth mint had released a quarter oz version until this past december. I had a hard time finding one available to purchase. You can find the 5oz silver Kook HR 2021 coin available all day long. But not this coin. Still this was much cheaper versus more recent releases in quarter oz gold proof coins I want to get from the royal mint.

Maundy Money Change of Portrait Type Set- well very nearly!
All housed in their new home, encapsulated in Quadrum Capsules- if anyone has Maundy and wish to have a safe and secure method of storage/ display, these specially designed inners for Maundy can be bought here, for about a tenner for 10 inners & Quadrum capsules, delivered.
Completing the Set has been a bit of a labour of love.  It's almost complete but I still have to source the 1953 Maundy Set.  The 1953 Set is a difficult one to find, the mintage being just over 1000.  In the meantime I have substituted this Set with a 2000 Proof set bearing the Mary Gillick Portrait of Elizabeth II.  The Gillick Portrait has endured throughout Her Majesty's reign.
The ten coin ‘Type Set’ in the photo’s below features the change of Monarch Portrait from 1817.  It wasn’t until 1820 that special sets of small silver coins were struck for the annual Maundy Ceremony in denominations of 1d, 2d, 3d and 4d.  These special sets of small Silver coins have been specially struck every year since 1820, and in 1822 an enduring standard of the coin was established in terms of the size and weight.  Maundy Money sits alongside the ubiquitous 200 plus year old Sovereign; as the only coinage that endures to the present day.
The Obverse of Maundy coinage mirrors the Portrait of the circulating coinage of the day.  The reverse was initially designed by Jean Baptiste- Merlen in 1822, and has endured since, excepting a minor change to the Crown, instigated by the renowned Royal Mint Engraver, William Wyon in 1888.  In 1950, George VI vetoed a change back to the Original 1822 design, and so it endures with only the one change in 199 years.
The 1817 features the Pistrucci Portrait of George III.  Unlike the Maundy struck from 1822, the date is found on the Obverse.
The 1822 was the first year for George IV.  Interestingly, the Royal Mint used the 2d Portrait punch on the 3d coin, which makes it look like an oddity from the remainder of the set.
The 1831 William IV and the 1838 Victoria was the first year Maundy for both of these Monarch's.
The 1888 was the first year of Jubilee Head for Victoria- it is here you can find the one and only change to the Reverse of Maundy coinage in 199 years.  The change made by William Wyon, in terms of the design of the Crown- please compare with the earlier issues photographed below.
The 1893 depicts Victoria's Veiled Head Portrait.
The 1902 Edward VII, 1911 George V and the 1937 George VI Maundy photographed below are all Proof, and these year dates were issued in individual Sets for the Maundy Ceremony and also included in Specimen Proof Sets with other coin denominations.  These Specimen Sets were issued to commemorate each of the respective Monarchs Coronation.
Missing is the 1953 Mary Gillick Portrait Set, but substituted handsomely with the 2000 Maundy Proof Set, struck to commemorate the Millennium.

    Enjoy! 😃
