I think I've used Cambridgeshire Coins before.

The pictures aren't the best, but there's a ton of proof half sovs/sovs and even a proof 1980- something panda for pretty good prices, but it's so hard to tell the quality from the photos

The owner Richard can be tetchy.

I once bought a tray of silver 1oz bullion coins from him at a coin fair.

I asked if he would include the tray in the deal.

He had a tissy fit and accused me of trying to rip him off.

Very good website and some reasonable prices now and then.

    Which dealer is this, sorry

🙁 You are not the only one. PayPal crucified me when I tried paying for Cubans' coins (sold from Europe NOT Cuba)!!!

Here is a link for my story:

Thanks for sharing, it's ridiculous, you'd at least expect their automated system to flag it if the payment was going to an address held by someone in said country, or a domain name based in that country. I'm not going to use PP again

Reversed or not, if they give you that much grief for an innocent purchase then probably best to ditch them. I closed mine recently because it's an automated interrogation sequence to do the most basic tasks with them. I only ever signed up to the damn thing in 2004 when using eBay for the first time and they didn't take bank payments yet. Certainly not needed now. Goodbye PayPal.

Yeah I'm awaiting the refund to appear back in my bank, and then I'm gonna close my PayPal account

    Very nice looking half Pahlavi!

About the quarter Azadi, you need to return it to BBP. It it not acceptable what he sent to you!

Good luck with refund and I am sure you will find a beautiful one on forum.

Thank you! And yeah I'm awaiting a response from their support team, sent a lot of photos with my strongly worded email demanding a replacement in good condition or a refund

£76 a gram? I'd want it delivered by horse drawn carriage.

    That's really unfortunate.

I didn't calculate it by gram but my terrible maths worked it out to a 64% premium, spot @ 1416.64 when I ordered, cost £137.40, 1.82 grams of gold

    Edit: £75.49 a gram lol

Thats scrap, I dealt with them once, once only for me.

Just calculated the premium, oof. For a coin in decent condition, I would have been happy, I've wanted this for ages but haven't managed to find one.

It wasn't even their only one in stock, they are still available, so the fact that they sent this annoys me even more.

I'm going to write to their sales team, because imo it's unacceptable to flog this for the premium they charged.

  7. Today I received this 1/4 Azadi from Bullion by post.

To be honest, I'm pretty livid. They charged a hefty premium for a coin which quite frankly, looks to be in terrible condition. I wouldn't be surprised if no one wanted to buy this if it was listed for sale on the forum.

Numismatic value is essentially moot, this looks like scrap/spot gold.

Really not having a successful week

  8. I recently found a 1/2 Pahlavi in an online numismatic coin shop, so I jumped at the opportunity and wanted to check out ASAP, so I used PayPal.

Ive used PayPal for many years with no issue, and always used it for eBay. However, after making the payment, I get an email saying:

As part of our security measures, we review certain payments more closely to ensure our platform is being used properly and to minimise the potential risk for us and our customers. One of the payments that you sent is currently being reviewed.

I see the item bought has "Iran" in the purchase name, perhaps automatically flagged due to sanctions?

Anyway, it's been pending for 3 days now, and I'm not impressed. I don't have the option to cancel it and then make the payment by bank transfer to the seller instead, so now I'm sat in payment limbo.

Not using PayPal again, considering the recent backlash for their authoritarian policies they tried to implement, I'll probably be deleting PayPal after all this.

Rant over, anyway, buyer beware when using PayPal

    Nonsense.

You can't sell a 1oz silver coin for 30 quid with a photo of an undamaged coin and expect to get away with sending an ounce of silver shot instead, claiming it's still an ounce of silver.

Likewise, you should not expect to get away with selling coins as badly damaged as the ones pictured. There is an obvious premium involved here, and taking that into account, the coins pictured do not meet an acceptable level of quality in my opinion - and more importantly, also in the option of the mint when I sent them photos of a coin in a similar state.

I think TeaTime would have no problem getting the coins replaced if they were bought directly from the mint. If they came from a dealer, I think it could be harder because the nonsense "but it's only bullion" excuse seems more rampant with certain ones.

Can you tell Atkinson's this please? Charged me £32 bloody quid for a 2023 Britannia which looks like someone has played hockey with it. But they won't accept returns because it's "bullion"

I've got some 2022 Phillies and might not be far from you, either - in the High Weald.  According to my spreadsheet they cost me about £28.25 each, so you're welcome to have one for that + postage.

I appreciate that, thank you! but I'm not in a rush to get one. If one comes up here on the cheap I'd grab it. Silvertrader has some Phililies for £29.32 including capsule + postage, so I'm holding out for @theman73level prices 😂

    Here it is -

Thank you :) yeah I saw this. With silver I'm a collector over a stacker, so I only wanted one haha, wouldn't want 12

    Hm, yes but

The problem here is there are to many spot price buyers.

They don't buy silver, they (think they) buy a deal, they calculate the difference not the weight.

Everywhere else people buy silver at whatever price it is. They want that silver and they buy it.

Somehow I can sell Krugs with £26 on other websites but here they won't sell at £24

    Who is right?

I don't mind who as long as they buy my coins.

    Regards

    Constantin

Buy the silver not the price.

I love your prices, there are a few coins I want, but they'll be like £31-£32 on the bullion dealers, when you drop a £24 Krug there's no way I pass that up, I don't look at spot, just the price compared to where else I can buy it.

Hoping you'll get some philharmonics in at some point, I want one of those 😎

Why not include a link to the page so members can find it quicker, form an opinion, and judge for themselves?

    😎

Well the question was on the design, which can be seen in said photo 😎 didn't think an eBay link would have given much more to work with, from a purely aesthetic viewpoint, tis just a 1oz silver coin.

But ask and thou shalt receive https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134304709998?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=cwA5eoJdRuS&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=z1wqlu01szc&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Should be Commonwealth Mint, first coin of a three coin series.

Not for me, maybe too modern Interpretation imo

Just checked their site, they list very few coins, I guess some were made in partnership with certain commemorative coin companies.

I saw another Jody Clark st George and the dragon and I didn't vibe with it at all, thought this was the better of the two by far
