I'm glad it all turned out well for your Mrs. The NHS may not be perfect but we'd be far worse off without it. It's helped so many people in their time of need. My brother was diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer about 6years ago. Within weeks he had surgery and was in a bad way for a long while after. He's free of it now thankfully but has on going issues related to the illness. Needless to say, they were there and did exactly as they needed to.

That's nice to hear. I agree, there's real help available when needed, although I understand getting that help can be a minefield of limited resources in some areas. I've gone a bit off-topic. I keep thinking about Megan Fox for some reason. Worse things to think of :D

To be clear...that's sarcasm? Treading carefully here and don't want to start a holy war.

I ripped my ankle ligaments a while back. The A&E doctor couldn't speak english and needed an asian nurse to use as a translator. He diagnosed a sprain. I had to go back to A&E the next morning to get a proper diagnosis, and the right treatment including meds, crutches and physio therapy. Then again a month ago my Mrs had a cancer scare and was treated within two weeks flat. It all turned out ok, false alarm, something less serious, but wow were the NHS quick to react.  I'm ambivalent. Some NHS departments, awesome. Some, you end up worse than when you went in.

P.S. I have one openly gay friend, and one cross-dressing acquaintance (who looks disconcertingly attractive in full make-up). I know of at least a dozen other openly gay people who i don't particularly like. Not because they're gay but because i don't like them as human beings.

Haha! I had one mate years back who'd go in a club's bog looking like Rambo and come out looking like Megan Fox. :D

Jokes about “identifying” as this or that may seem flippant to yourselves, but to the people who live those lives it’s anything but. I won’t entertain all comments but I will say I’m not the only LGBT+ coin collector who dreaded opening social media today. And shockingly enough, a fair amount of LGBT+ persons are coin collectors.

I value this forum as a place of numismatic discussion, not a way of societally punching down. Again - I’m disappointed.

It would be lovely to live in a society of inherent empathy for all but we don't and I doubt we ever will. Expecting the world, online or off, to support you or anyone else  in the way you want it to never works. Inner strength and self reliance does, along with a rhino quality skin, mastering the art of the over head whoosh, and training your fingers to not respond to silly comments online. Not worth the aggro.

99.9 percent of the time a solid dealer or the forum is the way to go for me.  I have seen a couple of suspect Sovs and told the seller one removed from sale.

Whatever you chose all the best to you

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm probably overly cautious. In a few months I may be buying them from all over the shop :)

In my experience, stamp collecting has a significantly bigger problem with counterfeits than collecting Sovereigns!

My stamp collection consisted of a bag of 1000 stamps for a quid. I stuck them in my album. Proud. I was 7.

Looks like it's Costco again. For all its faults at least I won't be sold a Sexton Blake :D

I think you need YouTube channel. (I personally do not have IG nor facebook accounts).

Same here. No FB, never heard of IG. No insta, I do have twitter. You Tube is great, I've bought items I'd never think of buying until some charismatic geezer got me interested in them. That's how I got into most of the hobbies I've wasted money on. YT is defiantly a good hook to sell stuff to people who otherwise wouldn't bother.

Fakes are made of Gold…just not by the RM or a branch mint.

So I may end up with a fake sovereign baring the exact size, weight and composition of a gen sov? I should have stuck to stamp collecting. :D

agreed, making your own stuff enables etsy too.... higher prices on there all round...

Fairs and festivals too! People get so giddy at those places they'll buy anything before realising they've spent too much :D

Currently I'm only on IG, facebook and here. My website is under construction. I have no intention of doing you tube as not really my thing. But you never know what can happen in the future 😜

Congratulations on becoming your own boss. Not having someone over you always banging on is, well as Willy Wallace put it FReeEEEEeeeeedooOOOoooMMmmmm.

And I'd not rule any platform out when it comes to self promotion, get it out everywhere :D

Fully agree - but I could only afford this wee little quarter sov! (3.5% over spot) 😅

Gold is gold. :) I'd like to get into the half n quarter sovs but my local retailer doesn't stock them and I hate mail order delivery for anything. The gold fever is high this morning :D I'll feel satiated when I pop into Costco and grab a coin later :D

I think you need to explain the concept of cost buying average when a price fluctuates!

I tell her it'll come good for our future OAP cash-in but all she see's is what we spent on gold up to now is more than its currently worth. We only started stacking 3 months back. I'm happy enough. I want to buy more :D A lot more!

    "Cheaper" or "less expensive" ?
I cannot remember the glass half full or half empty meaning - one is an 'optimist' and the other a 'pessimist' but it gets confusing when you add the fact that a pessimist is actually an optimist with experience.

The Mrs is moaning gold is getting cheaper than when we bought it. I'm just happy to get a few quid off my next purchase :D

I think I do - a big bounce is on the cards - this week.
Bought more GDXJ and paper silver today. We shall see?

Still think it will go well below $1800 as it moves with the equities market collapse. When the panic sets in with the CBDC-BS & fiat reset chaos there could be a run to gold we have hardly seen in recent history maybe? Who knows - crazy times & crazy narrative flipping also & the media control the robots.

My wife says gold is gonna get cheaper and she's never wrong. :D

True and I understand this, however I wanted to give a balanced view to the question asked, as everyone has said they haven't had any issues, so I didn't want @GoldDabbler to order one, then be disappointed after everyone's recommendations.

Honestly, they aren't bad, it was more of the flexible request I asked for that was turned down that peeved me a little I guess. Also the link they sent doesn't really back them up in their logic.

I have seen it yet this is first I've experienced, I'm aware I'm anal but if it was me I'd look for that sort of stuff, it makes the difference.

@GoldDabbler I will say though the packaging is great, discreet and you get a call once funds have been received so please don't let me cloud your judgement :)

Thanks for the thoughtful post MNLCoins. I'm always expecting pot luck with coin condition, new or old, although I do expect the 2022s I buy to be in pretty good condition. I'm starting a old sov pile of bullion in any condition soon so that'll take any stress out of me receiving a knacker through the post. :)

A bit of a shame, especially with new coins, so be mindful of this when ordering new stock. As it looks like they don't QC their new coins.

I know hardly anything about coins but I read the 2022 plat jub sovs are semi numis. Not sure if that's right but either way I want my 'brand new' sovs looking brand new, bullion or not. Sounds like this year's bullion sov might be more valuable than just bullion.
