I was lucky enough to buy a 3-coin set and a full and a half sovereign today.
    Very happy with my purchases.
Although i bought everything for my collection, i have a feeling that the half and quarter sovereign will do very well if someone considers the very low mintages! Full sovereign will also do well.
I love the design, when i saw the video of the designer holding the actual coin i thought the design was very nice, much better on coin than on paper/pc screen.

I got the Who 1oz gold pf70 @ £1900 and the 2019 gold 50 pence 50 years @ £775. I really like the design in both coins and wanted to buy them, so i got them at a great price.
cant understand why the 2019 gold 50 pence i bought has not been a succees.. i really love the design and as a circulation coin design i thought it would make it more desirable ..

I bought a couple of modern gold coins at pf70 way below release price. So i was extremely happy!
there were many modern coins being sold at cost or below cost..

So, its really about the volume of sales you want to make and why you are making them.
If you are flipping coins regularly some might argue you are retailing as a business/sole trader. In which case the end responsibility comes to you as the dispatcher for insurance and covering any losses, not the customer.
I look at it like this:
Send 100 parcels with special delivery = £700 for postage
Let's say each parcel is valued at £50
Send 100 parcels signed for = £300 postage
This means that you would have to have 8 parcels go missing to actually end up being the same cost as sending all through SD.
From my experience I would say less than 1% of signed for parcels have an issue and even less than that go missing entirely.
It is basically acting as your own insurance provider and I would always prefer this because it is the job of an insurance company not to pay out. There are so many loopholes that they can/do use not to pay.
    Hope that makes sense!

These coins do come with a large A4 size brochure (about 20+ pages) about the Trial of the Pyx ceremony.
You also get a printed page of the “verdict”.
And of course a separate COA stating it is a proof or bullion or whatever coin and the limitation (only 6 or only 10).
All of it comes in a cardboard folder.
The coin itself is encapsulated in a plastic credit card sized holder which fits in a paper cutout slot in the cardboard folder.
For larger coins, I think it is not feasible to encapsulate them so they come in a box with a different type of COA.
I have also seen graded Trial of the Pyx coins by NGC. the holder description clearly states this.
It is a nice little package but I’ve only ever seen these sell at a loss unfortunately. And the eBay listings of previous years that are priced over the original cost have been lingering there for some years now.
My personal opinion is if you like the coin and the idea of holding one that went though this ceremony, get it for your own pleasure. It is almost guaranteed to sell at a loss, so if that’s your drive for buying it, you’ll more likely than not be disappointed.

I guess if we're not happy with our orders then we will still have the 14 day returns option?
I'm feeling quite happy about my order tbh. I've had the despatch email so will find out tomorrow

As well as the blister packaging, they should also come in a big fancy folder that includes information about the trial process and a piece of paper saying how many coins were returned. Not sure what the boxed ones are like.

The point that the coins are handled is of course obvious. However it may not be quite so obvious to our fellow forum members just how ‘roughly’ handled they can be (assuming that my coin was a typical example). Suffice it to say that any novelty value that I might have felt for the coin very soon wore off!
    However each to their own…..
@MintCollectionsImportsThe coin comes encased in a soft plastic bubble, sealed in a double sided piece of flexible cardboard marked ‘Trial of the Pyx’.
I have seen NGC encapsulating (not grading) the complete package as above in an oversized holder.

With the Trial of the Pyx they always have some extra coins minted from the batches they make of a certain release.
It is why you might see "limited edition mintage 6000" & "Maximum coin mintage 6010" The extra 10 go to the Trial.
So these usually are very rare items in the sense only a small number go through it.
But, are they collectable and worth the premium? I kind of feel no to be honest.

    Hi Johny,
Just my thoughts and of course everyone is different in their outlook and thoughts.
    (1) I buy to hold - pretty much most things (including metals) are bought for the long term i.e. to keep for 10+ years.
    (2) Personally, I don't subscribe to conspiracy theories around bankrupting everyone deliberately.  Having worked in Investment Banking for 20+ years, I can confidently tell you that they are very much less organised and planed than you would ever believe, I understand the same is true for most governments who they advise.
    (3) Markets go up and down and it is hard to predict what they will do - its a gamble.  I assume you are talking about Robert Kiyosaki who has been pumping out PR about market crashes.  I haven't looked to see if he is promoting a new book or product, but do remember that this 'wizard' has had a couple of companies go bankrupt under his ownership.  He now specialises in telling people how to make money......as his career.
    (4) I think everyone really needs to do their own education and research around investment decisions.  The same research department / commentators can (and often do) predict a bull and bear market in the same WEEK!  People on social media etc often have an agenda - I ignore this and look at broad market fundamentals

Limited Series vs Infinity Series (Sovereigns, Chinese Pandas, US Eagles, historic coins, etc.). I was lucky (and cheated) when I snagged the 2021 10-coin QB 1/4oz gold, very unexpectedly. Then further luck with the 1oz Gold QB Completer (icing on the QB cake). I’ve signed up for Tudor Beasts 1oz gold series, in a neat RM case, I hope. Beginning to wonder if ‘selected’ Limited Series are a viable investment option. Worse case (with much luck) I’ll be able to hand down a neat completed wooden box filled with beautiful coins to my children. Sovereigns and historic coins (to me) are a deeply personal relationship, never ending but always loved and admired. Thoughts?

The frosted version does look quite nice.
Can someone explain the beast’s posture to me though?  I can’t make out the anatomy and it’s driving me mildly insane.
What is that “gap” to the left of the shield and below the forepaw?  You can see the field of the coin in that gap.  And what are those two coiled-spotted “loops” at the base, from the back paw to the bottom of the shield.

Well, the RM Lunar series looks like it could have looked way better than it did/does. There are no other RM sets out there that look desirable. As for this new set, the concept is solid, the three Seymour beasts and Tudor Dragon sound intriguing. the overlapping beasts may well be redesigned. I quite like this design, says Royal heraldry IMHO, the tail seems to be arranged in that position to fill negative space, ready to unthink Jody Clark designs for now, and will probably get this coin in silver proof🙄 or try to acquire this set in nickel🤔 and obtain the completer in silver proof😊 and hope I don't miss out on the silver quarter ounce set🤪 Does anyone know how many designs they will release each year?

Hey good people of the silver forum. As I'm a newbie I've recently come to realise that new coin releases for the coming year can come onto the market a couple of months before it starts. (The maid Marion coin for example) so does anyone know when the new platinum jubilee sovereign will be available and is there a normal date on the calender for such releases?

I wouldnt buy bullion above much over than spot price.
If you want to collect the QB, better get the proof versions as it really makes the design stand out.

Looking at the results from yesterdays three auctions, there is a striking difference between the results of the two Coin Cabinet auctions, and the CoR auction which was sandwiched in between.
