Today I Received.....

1888 Mexico 8 Reales - it’s had a life and is complete with ‘chop’ marks made mostly by Chinese merchants.

I’d like to research these further if anyone can help. If only coins could talk, this has certainly changed hands a lot over the years.

Oddly, one of the chop marks looks like the ‘@‘ symbol.

The 1935 is one of my all time favourite coins. I love Percy Metcalfe's almost child-like, late deco version of G&D. I have a few, most of which are in great shape and cost next to no money. If it floats your boat then more of Metcalfe's work is worth a look - he did coins from Ireland to Iraq, a brilliant bust of George V, and some amazing deco sculpture.

Before I knew I was date running 1 Oz maples I picked up a few older ones from the bootsale a year or so back. 1998 and 1999. Got them for like £15 a pop. 

Sold the 1998 as I saw they were selling for decent money. I now kind of regret it! 😅

I sent back the first set.  I was almost satisfied with the second set, but they still had a few marks here and there I wasn't happy about.  So I sent them back.  I almost wish I hadn't...
