I don't see any of these performing well in the future. These are definitely ones to buy because you like them - not because you expect to even get your money back in the years to come since that almost certainly won't happen.
I have no idea what the limited coins are or what the mintage numbers are for those but they'll always have the problem of being massively diluted by the unlimited mintage coins. These are coins that will be worth their metal content and little more in the years to come.
If you're looking for an investment I'd strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

I don't think memorial coins are particularly popular outside a 5 year period after death. Look at the Diana memorial coins, they were popular for a few years, but now are hard to shift.  I am planning on getting a nice near uncirculated 50p from circulation when they are released, I don't mind waiting if an example only costs 50p.

Royal Mint retail prices are not determined by whether or not they are limited coins. The mint price is the mint price, regardless, and the secondary market determines whether or not mintage will influence the ongoing price.
None of the unlimited mintage coins will be a lower mintage the limited coins.
They will be a good buy if you want one, not if you want to sell one for a profit. 

Bonkers. Don't know why people are bothering considering the unlimited mintage. Utterly bonkers.
Given how many of these will be sold anyone who genuinely wants one for their collection would be best waiting a while and picking them up for a fraction of their RRP later on.

Think they nailed the Charles portrait - came out much better than I'd of expected. The Elizabeth portraits on the memorial coin massively let that down... just looks rushed and something I'd expect one of the smaller mints to churn out. Shame on that. The 50p looks amazing both sides.

I often see gold derided as an investment and an asset. 
Gold has not behaved as I expected in relation to inflation.
But….against a background of the current economic lumpiness, it is doing its job pretty well.
JP Morgan boasts of having a “fortress” balance sheet, I would argue that anyone's personal “fortress” balance sheet should include a healthy proportion of gold.

The issue with this set is that it's a whole chunk of change to buy. Think of how you might sell it down the line. Only seriously wealthy coin collectors will be able to get this set in the future - but would they even get it? I would argue there are far more interesting coin sets for collectors out there than this one and it's big price point really prohibits the selling of it. 
Who knows where it will be in 30 years - maybe quite valuable, but it's also a huge risk and one that will require a lot of work to exit from.

In my opinion it's not the customer service side that's the problem (although it can be less than great at times)
The real issue here is that they seem to have little to no idea how to project manage effectively. Blaming suppliers in delays for over 12 months is not acceptable and the inability for them to get a release to market without quality issues and mistakes.
I suspect as with all organisations that have been around for a long time and that go through a period of growth and change they cannot handle the changes.
Hire the right people, effect change and the results will follow.

Wonder what their threshold is for sending out an email to everyone like this. Really it should have been sent out prior to anyone being charged for the latest coin. They'd save themselves a lot of customer service work if they kept customers up to date about items they've ordered. Perhaps they didn't think people would care about the box but I'm willing to bet most of us signed up for the continuity option at least partially because of the box. Either way they need to get better with how they communicate with their customers... it shouldn't take loads of us complaining for them to send out a communication like this.

Glad I'm not alone with the annoyances of the boxes. This sort of thing just causes unnecessary bad feelings towards the RM. This at a time when disposable income for all households across the land is about to drop dramatically...  not a smart way of doing business when you sell products no one actually needs.
I'll write a good whinging email not that I expect that will get any meaningful response apart from making me feel a bit better.

I completely forgot I subscribed to this series then got the email with the overpriced coin which then apparently will be back down to normal price with a refund issue. Fine, whatever. Now the coins arrive but no box. Am I the only one pissed off about this? I signed up originally with an agreement the box would be received with the second coin. That didn't happen with them citing production delays but it would come with the third coin. That now hasn't happened. Their general sloppyness with pricing and general inability to deliver what they say they are going to deliver are unacceptable. At this point I think I'm up to more negative experiences ordering things from the mint than positive.

thing is you can't say one thing to boost sales and entice poeple into buying something,then totally go back on it
 

No i said about it on the other thread,and have sent the RM a moaning email.
false advertising but they know everyone will cancel this c**p after they get the box.So it's all bullshit
