CollectForFun reacted to PhillyJive in Need your advice regarding rare Chinese GOLD "2021 Moon Festival Panda" medal.
    Thank you guys.
The opportunity that was presented to me was was for NGC pf70 1kilo Gold.
They are extremally rare, only 8 of them were produced and only 6 graded in pf70.
The price was 150k, but after a long internal battle I decided to pass, mainly because I could not find much information on collectible value of this medal.
Still not sure if i made the right decision or not...

CollectForFun got a reaction from ak74 in No more EU VAT free silver
"VAT free silver" has anyway just been a gimmick from European Mint for some time now. Though technically it may be correct and no VAT is applied, you don't see corresponding actual difference in the final price compared to other European dealers who apply VAT. E.g. at the moment 1oz silver coins start at around €23.20-23.50 depending on purchase volume, which is fairly low price but nothing out of ordinary you couldn't find at other dealers such as the dreaded gs.be mentioned above. So where exactly is the alleged VAT saving?
Add the cost of shipping which was always very high at EM (easily double the cost of other dealers) and you can see that there really isn't too much to be sorry about if this loophole is going to be closed...

For how long do you leave the UK? Permanently?
If not permanently, do you expect selling any coins while temporarily abroad, or will you keep them and likely sell only after you are back in the UK?

CollectForFun got a reaction from dicker in AliExpress and PCGS Order Failure Dispute Procedure Update
I once managed to get partial refund from them using their dispute process, but that was a situation of delayed delivery despite using shipping with guaranteed delivery time. I agree their forms and buttons intended to be used in that process are far from user friendly. But I definitely managed to somehow update my reasons for dispute because they rejected my claim at first, too.
It was however easy for me to document my issue, because it was obvious from the tracking information. Your situation is more difficult. Luckily they sell only fake coins over there so hopefully no big deal if they get lost ☺️

I’ve recently bought this job lot of coins, shown here is a fraction of what I bought.
I hadn’t seen them before buying so it was a mystery what would be in there and I’ve had lots of fun going through them this evening.
Another member here suggested I make this a post of its own, so here it is.
Apologies for the poor photos as they’ve all be taken this evening.
    What did I find?
I found mostly old pennies and some nice examples, Victoria, George V, Edward VII, George VI and Elizabeth. I also learned that the Victoria young head portrait was on the old pennies as late as the 1890’s.
I also lost count of the amount of th’repenny bits there are. No jokes needed. We all know what it rhymes with!!
I also found a nice 1948 quarter dollar and a few 1 Franc coins from 1945-1947 made from, Would you believe aluminium!! I thought they were plastic when I first picked them up. I can only imagine France was short of PM’s after 1945. No prizes for guessing why.
I did find some very nice George V Florins and three pence coins that I believe are 50% silver which I was pleased to find.
There are many world coins both old and new which many I have no idea about.
The curiosity with this got the better of me and it’s quite enjoyable. My family however looked at me in bewilderment as I tipped them on the table ready to rummage. 😆
Anyway, there’s still a lot more to go through and if anyone is interested I’ll update the post with my ‘finds’. This is the first time I’ve ever bought a ‘job lot’ and it certainly makes a change from sovereigns, crowns and silver stacking.
(I'm wearing the gloves as some of these coins are a little grubby.)

    Literal translation:
    祥     auspicious, propitious
    龍     dragon (represents strength)
    納     to receive, to accept
    福     blessing(s), prosperity
In simple English, Live Long and Prosper 😅

Why do you think they are very few for sale? Somehow I see them very often. For example, there are at least 16 of them on sale at ma-shops at the moment, starting from EUR 400 for aUNC. So either collectors who are also investors have just not discovered their potential yet, or they are not so uncommon, at least for now.

CollectForFun got a reaction from stefffana in 20 franc gold coins faked ?
Come on, that's just totally random selection of several fake coins posted to Numista by a few of the users who happen to have them in their collection and bother to do so. By no means that's a complete list. Quite on the contrary - in my opinion, one must assume that fake exists for every coin of at least some relevance (and as Lawrence Chard documented in his thread on Chinese fakes, they even don't mind counterfeiting a completely irrelevant modern fantasy coin).
So rather be prepared for a fake of any gold coin, either a contemporary fake (which may even have the right gold content, lol) or a modern one.

Thanks, 10 koronas are really nice coins for a date run, although maybe a bit too small for me, I prefer a bit larger diameters
By the way, in my experience, their date runs are nowadays usually assembled without those rarest years 1895 and 1915 or those years are substituted by restrikes/replicas. The remaining 22 years can still be obtained, although several rarer years are more difficult to find in better grades - but that's part of the beauty of collecting a date run - it should never be too easy!
