We've all been undercharging for our sovs, obviously. If only we could sell gold coins @ £3,825 per oz. But buy at £1,346 per oz.

Personally, I don't recommend this deal. Notice the wording that this is a "rare" chance to own a 2013 sovereign.

The coin market is a funny thing. I would suggest that coins such as this don't generally have much of a collector base, the reason being they are so rare and come onto the market so infrequently that most collectors consider them unobtainable so they don't chase them. Also of course the great price tags that these have attached also dents interest.
Rare coins aren't always a good investment. I purchased two Anglo-Saxon pennies about 15 years ago, approx £800 each, they still catalogue for that now. So taken inflation into account when I sold them I'd actually lost money, even though I got the same nominal sum.
Likewise with other later era coins, very often it's a case of breaking even. Sonetime things go out of vogue too, like Georgian furniture, in the 1990s you'd spend £200 or so on a table, now they retail at £40-£60, they have history and rarity but dark furniture just isn't in fashion.
Middle of the road coins, grade wise and rarity wise seem to do best.

This is likely people seeing the price the coins go for at dealers, auctions and generally , not realising that only sellers with a long standing good reputation get the best prices.
A Random Ebay seller who has low feedback and does not normally deal in coins is not going to get the best price. This does mean bargains can be available but you have to be sure you can assess accurately what you purchased and be prepared to send back anything that is inaccurate.

Having bought a gold proof at below bullion prices a while back I had a go at cleaning it and thankfully learnt it’s not a good idea on that one. The majority of the time most people like myself just make things worse and as Lawrence mentioned further up simply cleaning an older coin that has aged well can wipe out its value. I am now able to keep my proofs in the capsules or better still slabs to enjoy them and maintain their condition.

Falling about laughing at this.  It's such a shame that proofs are so hard to enjoy.  Yeah I used to use dust off to clean my records and you never can be 100% sure that there isn't a wet blast coming.
One benefit of my recent disaster is that I got to spend a lot of time with the coin outside of its case.  Even now it it beautiful from certain angles, like liquid metal.  An experience I wouldn't want to risk again unless I was in a dust free vacuum chamber and  possibly wearing a space suit.

First rule of gold stacking: Never buy gold unless you have an emergency fund of at least 3-6 months expenses. Otherwise, I guarantee the time to 'forcibly sell' your gold will be the worst time possible. It's weird like that.
Second rule of gold stacking: Never buy gold unless you have worked out an exit strategy. Who, where, how.
Lucky for you, you're here already. Put them up for sale here and you'll be alright (but learn the first two rules of stacking 😉).

Yes, it seems clear he is talking about @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer.
Although we would rather sell coins we have in stock, but in times of high demand like now and the 2007/8/9 credit/banking/sub-prime crisis, readily available bullion stock dries up, and not just on a UK level, but worldwide. During the Covid crisis, production and transport has also created supply tightness. Some dealers simply hike their premiums to rip-off levels, some shut up shop. We are happy to sell new coins which we often have to wait for too. We also make a market in secondary market bullion coins, but only those we have a reasonable expectation of covering in a reasonable time.
While @Paul is entitled to his opinion "Not a great business practice, selling stuff you don't have", we disagree. This has been discussed on TSF previously, at great length. We always make it as clear as we possibly can whether we have coins in stock, and for items not in stock, expected supply times for new coins, secondary market supply is much harder to forecast.
There is no need to "read the small print". If there is any likely delay, we show a very in-your-face pop-up banner which spells it out very clearly. This pop-up cannot be closed or dismissed withour making a positive choice about whether to continue or choose an alternative.
The main point is that we offer a choice.

Eighteen reasons to get excited about Sovereigns.
I received a lovely 1863 Victoria Sovereign today and this one concluded my 'Change of Portrait' Type Set from 1817 to present day 😅  The type set includes all the Portrait changes for each Monarch.  I have attempted to acquire the inaugural year date for each Portrait change.
All the 19th Century examples are Sovereigns and where practicable, all of the 20th & 21st Century Sovereigns are Proof examples.
Over time I will likely try and seek out a nicer example of the 1825 George IV; replace the 1836 William IV with the inaugural year of 1831; attempt to do the same by replacing the 1863 Victoria with a nice 1838 example and for Elizabeth II, replace the 1987 Maklouf Portrait with the inaugural 1985 year date.
In the meantime, for those who appreciate them, enjoy the Sovereigns 😀

Im 100% with you, I think its fabulous. One of the best new coin designs in recent years in my opinion. but time will tell.
I think this is unfair and not the case at all, but each to their own. The mint are in the business of making money by selling premium metal, so I'd sooner they produced coins of this standard once a quarter and cut back on a lot of junk they push out on a weekly basis. But again, thats my opinion and there must be a market for what I regard junk as they keep doing it. so fair play.

While I'm on... maybe a little bit of inspiration from, imo, one of the most beautiful coins in the world perhaps...

Received this message today from eBay and it answers most questions I guess.
It used to be a jungle making any claims as eBay and PayPal worked independently and if you entered a claim on one the other didn't want to know.
Now all down to eBay but will you have the same buyer / seller protection ?

    I have not handed over my bank details because, unless I'm mistake, it's basically a direct debit;
meaning, yes - great, you get paid within 2 days, but on the downside, if a dispute starts with some scammer (and there's plenty), eBay always side with the buyer, so the money can be pulled even faster to some crooked buyer and you get your item (or something substituted) and you're stuffed.
I found the way to stop  a lapse in the £1 weekend offers, is to put up just one item 'as normal' - once they see selling activity, the offers start again.
