Looking at that list, a lot of those are showing as No longer available - e.g. the 2022 Platinum Jubilee 50p silver proof (that the one with '70' on the obverse? right?) if you can still get those, I'd be up for one 😁👍

im not sure, i just copied and pasted over what the email said. im not buying anything else "new issue" this year even with this end of year deadline

Ok bud, worth an ask - no worries. If it is the '70' Platinum Jubilee, they are going for more than issue price on the 'bay, so would have been a bargain.

Cheers.

You could probably email their sales team and they'd probably sell you one if you really want it

What’s the real issue? Surely the mint have produced coins ranging from £11 to over a million pounds so there is something for everyone, not just those of you who want to spend thousands on sets of proof coins, double this and five that?

A lot of people seem to worry about how many of the nice sovereigns et. have been produced…. oh no! Too many!

Whats up, not going to make quite such an easy profit as normal when you go and flip?

Any sensible company is going to provide a range of products that means more people can get involved.

I’m sure that there will be yet more opportunities for everyone come the coronation🤔

Probably time to turn to stressing and speculating about what will and won’t be coming out for the coronation? Fill a bit of time in.

you dont realise just how many current releases there currently are available until you see them listed like above - THERES LOADS !

too many new issues, cost of living crisis, inflation, interest rates increasing, high gold price, increased RRPs, higher/unlimited mintages

Indeed. It’s a perfect storm of events, some of them caused by the RM. 🫤

Not really being a collector I don't know what's "usual", but it seems to be that the RM have also put out such a broad range of products to commemorate HMQE2 I wonder if that's also damping enthusiasm. Even as a non-collector if they had just put out, say, one or two designs specifically for the purpose I might have been tempted to pick up something in silver - but the wide range doesn't give me that sense of buying a small piece of history for any particular coin.

That too - their memorial range should have been a single commemorative range. As it is, it had become multiple ranges.

Just hope they keep dishing out winter fuel allowances or most "real collectors" won't have anything left to buy all these coins......Bring back furlough or even better UBI.

Only in yours wet dreams you will be able buy gold and silver coins with UBI - CBDC.

(here is the email copied & pasted from my RM account manager) explaining the end of year, what is happening

Good afternoon Mr XXXXX,

I hope all is well! Just a warning that this is a bit of a lengthy email but there is good reason for this.

As I am sure you are aware we have recently had several releases as part of our Memorial range, including Sovereigns, sets, and individual coins which all feature the first effigy of King Charles III. One thing that you may not be aware of is that everything within this memorial range will only be available to purchase until the 31st of December, and as of the 1st of January the full range will be taken off of sale and you will no longer be able to purchase anything from this range from the Royal Mint. So even if the issue limit is 100 for example, not all of them may sell making the coin/set rarer…

I appreciate you may have already purchased coins from this range when they were released and were only restricted to what you may have previously purchased, but with the time that has elapsed the household limit has been relaxed.

These same sales window also applies to our 2023 dated coins that feature the Queen’s effigy (Lunar Rabbit and Tudor Beasts Yale of Beaufort), these will also be taken off sale on the 1st January and will no longer be available to purchase. Please see below the coins which are still available along with their prices, if you would like any please let me know as soon as possible so that I can put them aside for you.

Kind regards,

XXXXXX

Just looked on the Royal Mint website and all of the above coins have a 17 days to go tag. The Lunar Rabbit and Yale are being discontinued because they have the 2023 date with the Queen’s effigy which is understandable but why doesn’t the same apply to the bullion Yale?

Maybe it will. It says this:

As several of our 2023 collections are issued in autumn 2022, customers will continue to see commemorative and bullion coins featuring Her Late Majesty's effigy until 31st December 2022. Following this, sales of these coins will close.

I can only assume it'll have 2023 dated on the bullion but the title throws me off a bit lol.

Memorial because it is having a different reverse, so the sovereign won’t have George and dragon on etc.?

Few more weeks of speculation!😮🤔

What makes you think the bullion memorial sovs will be dated 2023?

I’ve not seen anything that suggests this. 🤔

Just the fact they'll be minted and on sale in 2023. I haven't seen any other kind of sovereign announced for the turn of the year. I could be wrong but didn't think they could produce a sovereign dated a year back. I know there's the proof ones already but they were released and sold in 2022.

Both Gothic Crown coins were minted and released in 2022 but were backdated 2021.

The second Gothic Crown was minted and released as late as in the second half of 2022.

So there’s definitely a precedent, and no rule set in stone. The RM can do whatever they want - they’re pretty much self-governing I think.

Well in that case it's possible then. I wonder if there will be this memorial bullion sovereign with its elaborate design and another bullion soverign with the standard George and the dragon design. Or maybe 2 elaborate bullion sovereigns so one has a special design for Charlie specifically.  If there are then by-golly that would be exhausting ! 😂

They will be minting and delivering coins 2 years out of sync for some the gothic you mentioned was a 2021 have not all been delivered yet and some will come in 2023.  I had a whinge at my RM account manger about his yesterday, I said I’ll will order the coins I want but will cancel if you can’t deliver them….think they took umbrage at be cancelling an order that I’ve now waited 12 months for.

They will be pumping the annual sets in 3 weeks, plus all the new 2023 coins and they are years behind on some and months behind on almost everything else.

Far to much going on. I'm slowing down with the mint after 2022 is over. Its been a whirlwind of releases and blunders along the way. They need to give themselves a chance to catchup and the rest of us a break lol
