So doesn’t that put it back to where we were a couple of years ago?

Yes, they brought that in for public sector clients a few years ago and for the private sector maybe a couple of years.

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

"Speaking in the House of Commons, the chancellor announced tens of billions of pounds of increased spending and tax cuts in the mini-budget on Friday."

So, borrowing? We need to cut spending for crying out loud, burn the Quangos.

Kwarteng Mates Rates

“From April, the 629,000 earners getting more than £150,000 a year will no longer pay the top income tax rate of 45% and will instead pay the 40% applicable to those on over £50,271”

To be fair, I've always supported a flat tax, highest earners pay more by virtue of earning more. Call it 20%, you earn 40k and you pay 8k, if you earn 250k you pay 50k. Yes, you are left with more, because you earned more. Charging them more is unfair and doesn't promote production.

I totally agree with this.

The increased spending isn't coming from tax raised but from money borrowed, if what I've heard is correct.

Just a shame that £1506 doesn't have nearly the same purchasing power it did when gold was last at that price. Regardless, gold has been pretty robust here in the UK during these financial troubles

It's damn satisfying to see though lol

Lawrence needs to get his stash of minty sovereigns out from storage and let the people have them lol

We did receive a few monster boxes of them today, with some other goodies.

Some of this stuff, we bought weeks ago.

It might be a few weeks before we get any more!
