Got another memorial three coin set from @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer  Full and quarter sovs seem fine but serious frosting issues with the half - never had a coin that bad in terms of frosting holes / issues before - usually dings, scratches and debris!

I’ve had similar problems with my three coin set from them - quarter is fine but half and full both got a lot of frosting damage! Options I have been given are refund or can return the set and wait for more stock, but no date given as to when that will be. I was under impression Chards quality checked all products before sending…?

It will be very difficult to get it back for the courier, especially if the they don't have a proper delivery confirmation image. Last time, my non royalmint delivery confirmation by Evri was just the photo of the label, not where was the parcel left/ delivered.

There is a picture of the package being handed to someone, so there is evidence that it was received by someone at least!

And someone else getting an expensive 5 coin set they didn't order😂

I know right! I called Royal Mint this morning - they are escalating and will come up with a plan given the high value of the delivery. I expect they’ll pay for DHL to go and collect the parcel or something, so it will be interesting if DHL turn up and the owner of the house says ‘package? What package?’ 😂

  4. So here’s something to add to Royal Mint’s impeccable record sheet…I returned the 5 coin set and got an email that it had been received. Then got another email saying a replacement had been dispatched - fab I thought. I then get a text from DHL, though the address it’s going to is an *old* address of mine that still must be on the RM system. Note, this was *not* the address the 5coin set originally came to (!). Phone call to RM this morn- they got in touch with DHL and said they would redirect the parcel - fab I thought. Just clicked to track the package…says package was delivered with a picture of it being handed over to some person…and guess what, that person is not me 🙃

Email sent back to RM just now saying can they get in touch with DHL ASAP to sort this, otherwise it is going to be a very expensive situation for them to put right!!

Hoping that someone can help me. Is anyone sending back a set who has a full sovereign in mint condition that could be swapped for mine which has a bad mark please? I will pay postage both ways. Thank you.

Sorry Chris my set has a damaged full too, otherwise I would have done this for you as my five set is going back!

so a new sovereign release on 15th november with king charles, do we think it is a must now that its dated 2022 with king charles on there.

Link is up on RM site: RM

Just got this email too - I am wondering if a 2023 sovereign is round the corner or if this is in its place?

Nope. Will sunk indifferent of what metal is.

A specific gravity test will not help too much, because the coins/tokens are too small and it is impossible to have very accurate results with a generic cheap scale.

The best way it is to check them at a pawn shop/jeweller to see first if they are gold ant what purity.

The golden stuffs, I don't think is gold. The easiest way to check is to put a drop of acid test (can be the cheapest one from Ebay for 9ct) on a small quantity of leaves. If nothing is happening it is gold. If will burn green or yellow, it is not.

Thanks - will take them to a pawn/jewellers next time I’m out and about! As for the leaf - would vinegar work or does it have to be a specific acid?

    They are making me curious,

Probably need a better camera/more daylight for better pictures and maybe weigh them? Check diameter and thickness and check Google with your findings.

Do you remember what you paid? Or even where you acquired?

What date is on them? I can make out MCM but nothing else.

Hi James. It says MCMVII. Some coins the VII is not as visible due to wear and tear I guess. Was advised to drop them into water and they sunk…? Not sure how scientific or helpful that is though!
