He did also end up throwing in a 2018 1oz gold proof Netherlands Lion Dollar (with a mintage of 200). Pretty rare coin with recent sales around the $2000 range not graded. So ended up about $3k short ( Still a nice chunk of change) but as you said lesson learned. Hopefully after grading the Lion will be worth 3-4k$ Range and even out a little bit more.

Oh slight damage limitation there, maybe my words are a bit harsh initially.

He should have been crystal clear before you made the flight saying I got X and Y will this do as a deal.

Waiting till you land in Munich and then giving you the news = punk.

Agree with Paul (safety) and that your safety and well-being is the most important aspect of this transaction. It's a good result.

  2. Although you sold in the end, a deal was a deal and they buyer is 5k short.

Not impressed at all with the buyer especially after assuring you no problems will arise. Whether he was genuine about this 'partner' (personally I think BS) only he will know.

Still made good money but business is business and 5k is a lot of money. Glad you got the sale and shared this story. The lesson I have taken from here when selling anything would be to get a deposit in order to use as collateral.

Nice guy and all - gets you no where.

It's cut throat out there and it's every man for themselves.

Congrats on the sale and also I like the fact the sale was international and a trip was made out of it.

  3. I have only ever been to one before and that was last year. I was in awe to see so much au and ag lying about. Unfortunately I was in a rush so didn't quite scope the prices or the pieces for that matter.

I can't really answer your question but last time I went with empty pockets this time round I will be taking £350 cash just incase I see something I feel is worth buying.

    Definitely well worth a visit.

  4. The fair is close to Euston station, so if you wanted to get a hotel there should be many available in London. You don't necessarily need to get a hotel near Euston or central London.

If you wanted to you can get a cheaper Hotel on the outskirts of Central London and travel to coin fair by public transport. Very easy to do.
