    I do like silver.
In fact, I like silver so much that I think the Royal Mint should add some to every gold sovereign, and they would look much better!

This of course is just my opinion but if looking just to drop 7k into gold I wouldn't go proofs or graded proofs. If I had 7k to spend today I would go.
3 X 1oz bullion coins at say £1550 each then put the other £1350 into sovereigns.
Gives you some that can be liquidated quickly should funds demand as well as some low premium larger coins to hold for the long term.
All that assuming it's pure investment. Ignore this if looking to collect, but collectable coins can take longer to get your cash out and are a much bigger premium.
    Just my opinion of course

Yep, I'm looking at it in a similar way right now. With the money printing that's gone on over the past few years, I think an epic crash/reset of the financial system is inevitable (next few years for me) and I don't want my wealth in any bank so I've bought metals as a store of value at this moment in time because I personally don't see anything better unless you can afford to buy land.

It's slightly disappointing to hear your slightly negative thoughts about me / us.
Sure we do except as a business to make money (not literally), and be able to generate and retain sufficient profit to grow and ensure we are financially stable. This has the benefit for past present and future customers to know that we are not going to disappear overnight.
I have mentioned it before, but sometimes the very cheapest suppliers are not financially stable, and could go bust or do a runner owing money. The prime example I quote is Harvey Michael Ross of Leeds, who for years was the most competitively priced UK bullion dealer, and also the darling of the financial press whenever they commented about sourcing gold sovereigns or Krugerrands.
    This thread contains some information:
Basically Harvey Ross was running a Ponzi type scheme, and ended up disappearing to Brazil, owning £ millions to investors and customers.
If I were purely motivated by money, I could have made about 10x more than I have in about 1/10th of the time, without doing anything illegal, just by being less transparent, ethical, and scrupulously accurate with descriptions.

Haven't you been listening? It will control inflation completely - the rest is due to Putin.
Things have got so bad it has given President Brandon cancer - the poor guy he can't remember what cancer but it is Putin's fault.

I set myself a goal of buying a minimum of 1oz gold per year and today i finally was able to do it.
Nothing special just the 2022 Britannia.

Been a strange 3 years, this brings my total to 7.78 oz of gold.
Anyone else struggling to decide where to put currency with the current climate? Silver is off the table with the premiums and tax, BTC is a scary environment atm and gold seems to be stale.

I look at the bright side, I've just started, barely have a sovereign, couple of quarters and a handful of silver, let it crash so I can build a stack myself 🤠

Name the coin and answers will be easier!
But in my humble opinion, never buy a proof solely on future resale, but rather because you love the design.

I am on the same line of thinking as you. In general, the power in control will never let go the control of the currency. And of course they know people will run to PM and surely they are much steps ahead and very prepared for this. Just wondering what is their plan for PM. And also i think that PM will not be let run up until the very end of the system, until then it will stay suppress. The moment PM will stop to be suppressed will be the end of the current system, which probably means an event of huge proportion, some external event to blame. First think that come in mind is a war with Russia. At that point is very likely they will confiscate metals for national emergency, or put a limit you can possess. Either way they make the rules and will never let people win, at any cost, better they destroy the world but will not lose the control of the currency. Of course better to have PM rather than not, but i dont think that we can escape their plan by simply owning metals. That is a very naive thinking. They will take everything from the people as always, using any mean possible. In a kind of reset scenario with martial law and any type of government abuse , it s very naive to think they will let you keep your metals and prosper. It would be a paradigm shift where even private property itself will be at risk. I am a stacker myself, but i am starting to realize that the same moment the fiat collapses they will make our stack illegal or just unusable. I guess they have already plan that. I think the step will be: end of manipulation---> confiscation. On the other side there is to point out one thing: we are going toward a polarized world, therefore i dont think all world will have same approach on this, but probably only the bankrupt western world, as it was for americans in 1933.

We are talking abut bullion coins guys!!! i dont understand this crazyness about grading 50-60 years-old-coins that have never meant to be numismatic pieces (and will never be imho). How can QEII be bad looking coins? they never circulated....are you seriously willing to spend 700-800 gbp for a "Ms66 or 67" when all of them are in mint state  as well? I hoped this was just a yankee bad attitude ....
i m afraid to say that when folks overpay pieces of gold in coin shape rather than ingot, this is just something that makes dealers richer and richer,
