GoldStatue got a reaction from RDHC in The model for 2003 proof Britannia?
I'm not seeing the resemblance myself, if that did happen at least Meghan wasn't on the scene, what an eye sore that would be 😀
I think the Royal Mint could re-do the 2001 and 2003 proof Britannia's, I don't think they work with one side being a matte finish and the other side being proof.
Really nice coin designs and subject matter though.

Popped along to visit my modest collection again today, and thought I'd share a new addition...
Finally received my Double 2022 bullion sovereign in blister pack, so now have the full bullion set ☺️

Entirely agree about Meghan, but I suspect that Philip Nathan, being an artist with obvious taste, would not have considered her, especially for a profile as her nose looks like a ski slope, to my eyes anyway.
Good point. I had vaguely wondered about that angle.

It could also come out as two part set like last release so double bubble profits for the royal mint.

GoldStatue reacted to bluemoon in I promise to pay the bearer on demand
It's still on there isn't it? I'm looking at my £20 right now and it says it on the Queen facing side right below where it says Bank of England. Not sure exactly what it pretends to be promising now though? 20 pounds of shrinking illusions? Now that's a promise they can keep their word on!

This guy is selling 22 of those SYO memorial 50p coins and they were only released the other day:-

GoldStatue reacted to paulmerton in First Charles III portrait coins
No, the SYO changed to the QEII Memorial 50p with Charles obverse on 28 October and will be running until 20 November, after which I expect it will change to the Snowman and Snowdog 50p.

Received my Gold Proof Tutankheman £5 today.
I was delighted to discover RM has gone back to the screw type capsules.
Pity about the coin though, lots of missing frosting so back it goes.

So it's all agreed. Nobody knows, what is next in the series. We are really just speculating and guessing
My money is on a 'diversity built Britain ' crystal maze 50p reminting. Since the last was that popular it didn't sell out, yet won most popular coin of the year allegedly in RM awards.

GoldStatue got a reaction from westminstrel in Royal Mint Upcoming Great Engravers 2022/23
I guess that is the problem the RM face, there's so many to choose from, they could produce a few more Wyon coins and they haven't even started with the Pistrucci designs yet.
I always thought the intention was to show case the engravers work, so it was really about the engravers themselves.
On top of that they're probably the best re-strikes you are going to get from ridiculously priced and hard to come by originals.

I'm sure they've already thought of that 😀 No doubt they will soon announce the British Monarchs set going up from 21 coins to 22 to complete the run with Charlie boy added to the end it.

GoldStatue got a reaction from Britannia47 in Royal Mint Upcoming Great Engravers 2022/23
That's a good point, because although the Rocking Horse crown is really well known the designer didn't really do a lot else with the Royal Mint.
You probably would expect that for them to be a great engraver they should have done a few good coins for the RM.
-
GoldStatue reacted to Paul in Royal Mint Upcoming Great Engravers 2022/23
Could look very nice redone in the yellow metal
I would personally like this pattern coin
They could go for the rocking horse crown
This link of previous Great Britain gold pattern coins that have sold via Heritage auction could give some inspirations to the next in the series

GoldStatue reacted to RDHC in 2023 1/4oz Gold Brits - who has em?
I would entirely agree about Chards keen prices and premiums. For this reason I have happily purchased several times from them. The trouble sometimes, however, is availability. The possibly indefinite wait on 'orderable' coins is a disincentive to purchase, likewise the possible second-hand nature of what may become available, though it is all clearly and honestly explained by Chards. And I am sure that they would prefer to supply new coins immediately if they had them in stock.

G&D design is my preference as well, good luck trying to get hold of the original 1910 pattern or 1935 gold crowns, I'm sure many collectors wouldn't complain about a RM re-issue of those.
Also I hope they avoid the two coin set approach they took with the gothic crown, I understand it was a coin where both sides were classics but the way they went about it didn't seem very fair on the collectors.
