Really Bad Milk Spotted Coin NOT Required!

Recommended Posts

Very strange request I know.. but I’m looking for a 1oz silver coin with really bad milk spotting.

I want to make a video on milk spotting and my old Brits have some small milk spots but I’m looking for something more dramatic for the video.

If you have one I can purchase from you please post a photo below with the price! (Ideally someone with 10+ Trading Feedback)

Thanks all!🥛

I just throw my coins with milk spots into a scrap bullion box for future sale.  The eraser just dulls the finish, and the coin is still in rough shape.  Save the time and either sell it or save for future sale when the price goes up.  I've run into many spotted coins from the Perth Mint.  It's a real shame because the coins are otherwise beautiful.  Terrible quality control.  I used to buy mint boxes from Perth, and the rolls inside would almost always have a few spotted coins.

Oddly, the PM is the only Mint I have Silver coins from that don’t have milk spots. This includes a full and complete collection of Kooks (Proof and non Proof), Sydney Olympic full set etc.

Possibly environmental!

Not my circus, not my monkeys

I found my Perth silver and maples had no milk spots even though some Brits did and they were stored together 🤔

It’s from the process of preparing the silver. Milk spots are from the remains of the cleaning process involving heating and acid. When not cleaned properly the residue ends up in the silver, coming to the surface within days, weeks, months etc. Keep them in airtight sealed containers, if they’re going to turn milky they will. The newer Canadian maples have a small privy like maple leaf on to indicate that they have been treated to prevent milking.🤔

I’m very particular with my PMs, and my vault is temp and humidity controlled.  I inspect everything when I receive it, and that’s when I notice milk spots.  My silver eagles never seem to spot.  The trend with milk spots tends to be with 1 and 2 oz coins from Perth.  The 5, 10, 1/2 kilo and kilo coins tend not to be spotted.
