Never heard of them before, but there appears to be an interesting back-story.

I thought this was an attractive coin, and design.

    With selective gold plating.

It's a mix between bullion and semi numastic.
There's 33.5 oz of silver and a little less than half of an  ounce of gold

Yellow gold teeth isn't that great. It should be much easier to create a nice portrait, now without hair. How funny would it be, if they make platinum plated teeth on the gold coin. Much better than gildet, or antique finished teeth on silver.

By the way, there is a really nice coin with teeth on it.

This image from the 2022 Annual sets thread seems to suggest the 50p will be issued in silver, gold and platinum in both standard and piedfort versions.

Not to sure of the validity of this though, as the OP states it was from a Facebook group... So make of it what you will but it does seem likely they would be, as all other 50p releases are normally issued in silver and gold as standard.

That coin looks awful, sorry to say. I think a traditional side view of Prince William would look much better.

True but in SE Asia it is so widely used as an alternative to cash savings that the premiums are very low and the margins are squeezed. I posted some prices on another thread ages ago. A search under Thai gold should find it.

It used to be possible to take a guided tour round the Royal Mint when it was still at Tower Hill in London. I took one in the 1960s. This was round the actual factory.
The "new" tours do not allow visitors into the main production areas, only to a viewing area of the "telling" room.
When the Royal Mint Experience opened, the RM issued an inaccurate and misleading press release claiming that the public could now take a tour of the Mint for the first time in the Mint's 1100 year history.
I pointed out at the time, not only the Tower Hill tours, but the fact that there were tours of Llantrisant in its early years, from about 1969. I do not know how long these operated for, but it is possible they were discontinued on Health, Safety, and Insurance grounds, possibly after and because an RM worker got killed in an industrial accident, probably due to negligence. The RM was never prosecuted for this, possibly because it has or had Crown immunity.
It should be quite safe to watch the video though! 😎

Most mints issue reports including their mintage figures, although in recent years, some mints seem to be delaying or avoiding publishing these figures.
Our own British Royal Mint used to issue an annual report, which I used to read. Each report included mintage figures for UK coins for the most recent year. It appear to have stopped publishing mintage figures for many coins, but bullion ones in particular, because of concerns about market intelligence and competition.
Proof coins should not be affected, but I think the publication of their mintage figures has also been delayed.
I believe some people have submitted Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, and you may find some of the answers online.
Publishers of coin magazines and books used to publish mintage figures, but they are affected by the above considerations.

Well, I'll be the "upstream swimmer" here.
I really like the Sovereigns and I started a collection of them earlier this year. I'm on my fourth one now, one for each monarch up to the present.
Anyway I love copper and I think it's a beautiful color. That being said I really like the looks of rose gold and my next Sov will probably be a modern one. Sad to hear that the modern Sovs have a somewhat poor strike. Would a proof version be better?
I haven't seen a rose gold Sovereign in coin shops in the States yet but the older ones aren't too hard to find even in America's heartland.
