  1. 1/10 US Platinum Eagle. I would like to stack larger versions of these but I'm afraid that I would get well under spot for them if I had to sell for some reason.
  2. In my experience here in the US I believe the smaller fractional platinum coins and bars sell better than full oz's since stackers seem to be naturally curious about the metal and want to tale a dip in it. I think those who have the funds for a full oz would rather buy gold imho. Of course we don't have VAT or any other taxes here on PM's.
  3. That coin looks awful, sorry to say. I think a traditional side view of Prince William would look much better.

    Junk silver

Also silver has been mined in western US states such as Nevada and Montana. Probably still is but as a byproduct of copper. Don't know if any pm's have been mined in the UK.
  5. Actually I agree 100%. However it's sad to hear about the poor quality strike. I will probably still purchase a modern one to add to my modest collection.
  6. Well, I'll be the "upstream swimmer" here. I really like the Sovereigns and I started a collection of them earlier this year. I'm on my fourth one now, one for each monarch up to the present. Anyway I love copper and I think it's a beautiful color. That being said I really like the looks of rose gold and my next Sov will probably be a modern one. Sad to hear that the modern Sovs have a somewhat poor strike. Would a proof version be better? I haven't seen a rose gold Sovereign in coin shops in the States yet but the older ones aren't too hard to find even in America's heartland.
  7. Cook Islands 1/2 oz coin. The coin itself is not a big deal however my wife graduated from college yesterday at age 54 and this was a gift for her achievement from a neighbor we hardly even know (and probably has no idea I stack silver)!
  8. It's true in the US we don't pay VAT but we do pay state sales tax depending on the state. Not all states have the tax on PM's, though. My state sales tax is about 7 1/2 percent or something like that.
  9. Just got my third gold Sovereign sometime last month and I'm in the States. It appears that Sovereigns here are for the most part a better deal than US pre-'33 gold (which I don't have).
