Not a portrait of Arthur, but...

Might as well start with a round table.

Fake News?

From the Wikipedia page about King Arthur:

"The Historia Brittonum, a 9th-century Latin historical compilation attributed in some late manuscripts to a Welsh cleric called Nennius, contains the first datable mention of King Arthur, listing twelve battles that Arthur fought. These culminate in the Battle of Badon, where he is said to have single-handedly killed 960 men. Recent studies, however, question the reliability of the Historia Brittonum."

I wonder why?

It was a huge rock. And after he pulled out the sword, the rock breaks apart into Stonehenge. I'm pretty sure, greek gods where somehow involved into this, but have no evidence for that and doesn't want to spread fake news. But Stonehenge still exists, this could be the evidence for the huge rock that it was before.

  • 3 months later...

Lawrence's mock up was quite close then, except the RM coin has failed to recognise that Arthur was actually half man, half fish (and no biscuit) according to Lawrence's image.

Oh it's supposed to be chain mail, is it?  Hang on... 😉😄

Arthur looks like a medieval monarch. Needs more woad.

He is also mentioned in an epic Welsh poem called the Gododdin - where the author takes a swipe at a current king and basically says "he is no Arthur" if my memory serves.

Sssshhhh don’t shout.

Brian Blessed - a man who can whisper across three fields. Macclesfield, Huddersfield and Sheffield.
