Time to drag the Royal Mint's business model in to this century?

Recommended Posts

I just can’t understand what the OP point is. If I don’t like the price of something or feel it’s over inflated I just don’t buy it.

Simple.

You can’t ask RM what their mark up is on their coins RRP price based on their costs:

What do the raw metals cost?

How much are the engravers paid?

What are the administration costs?

Well you could ask but they won’t tell you. They could well me making a 250% mark up or higher on most special limited edition releases but a bullion dealer may be making 20% or 40%. These are just examples not based on fact of course.

I you don’t like the price of something, just don’t buy it.

Think he was after prices of 5oz, 10oz and kilos (gold, plain or milled edge) which could be exclusives to mint marque customers? 2oz plain edge was defo an “exclusive”

Same as the milled as far as I'm aware but only to certain collectors as it was never on general release.  Happy to be corrected 😊

I’m sure @Paulposted a piece stating the plain edge was a bit more expensive but can’t be arsed to look. Paul?

RRP of the 2oz gold "plain edge" was a little dearer £5,250

It was never intended or ever offered for general sale to the general public via the web site directly, it was offered to people who had bought the previous 2oz gold coins in the Great Engravers series (myself included) so could could continue the series and to Mint Marque buyers who have spent the desired levels (which I would not have qualify for myself directly on spend levels !)

By offering this custom more limited "plain edge" it has albeit increased the mintage of this design, but created a separate limited 125 mintage plain edge coin, but on the flip side it actually freed up more allocation of this design for folk who would still be happy to have a 2oz gold "milled edge" in their collection, that the general public had dibs on getting for a wee small few minutes on release day before it sold out

Right, wrong, good, bad, correct, evil ?  i don't know.

If the question in the title is to be believe at all the op wants is to change the way the royal mint does business.

The way the royal mint does business has got hehaw to do with him!

@BarryWoodshas a big fat dose of buyers remorse and a unhealthy amount of self-entitlement. My wife knows this and this is how it should be done! No two businesses are run the same way. The OP is clearly deluded if he thinks that he has any chance of changing the royal mint in anyway shape or form.
