Today I bought.....

Recommended Posts

Few days ago actually - an 1853 gold US $1 (suspiciously cheap at £115...but will see it in a few days to see if I was scammed!).  It is a common year $1 ...but still a lot cheaper than I have paid for others on eBay.  Pics later this week.

Then back to the US dealers for a great deal on RM Queens Beast gold 1/4 Welsh dragons - got three at a good price. They are already $11 more since I bought them.  Hoping to grade until I get a 70 to keep my streak going! Actually - need to get a Griffin graded as well - hopefully will not need as many of those as it took to get a perfect Lion. I know some of you like to source them from the Mint in the hope that they are better than those that get flown across the Atlantic (and you get a screw capsule..) but frankly I am happier to pay less and get them in the US... albeit I won't see them until May ☹️

Won an email bid at Lockdales auction. My first Roman coin. Caligula. Always had a soft spot for that since seeing Helen Mirren when I was a teenager.

Will have it graded by NGC Antique Coins and feature it on the channel.

I bid for 3 of them but none of the bids were successful unfortunately. Must take a look at what they went for.
Numistacker I may have something to include if you send for an NGC Ancient submission.
I have something which one expert said it looked genuine but when they got a second opinion it came back as 'doesn't seem right'.
Sending it to the US for a third opinion may be a good idea.

Yes there should be an ancient tier this time so please send it over

In the late 70s/early 80s I was in my crazy testosterone fuelled teen-adult years!

We didn't have owt in those days...page 3 and a mucky mag lying sodden under a hedge if you were lucky :(

Then Debbie lit up our screens....Ms. Mirren was a bit too much for TV back then and Caligula was one of the first videos (Betamax?) I rented. Again, and again ;)

It's official, I'm tapped out at this point.  But check out the clean 1921 High Relief Peace Dollar I just won.  I'm completely disregarding the MS65  but I did compare this to other '21 Peace Dollars graded anywhere from MS63 - 66 and this one certainly looks like it will grade well in May.

Just bought a 2oz silver Queens beasts dragon and a 1oz 2017 silver Koala from Yorkshire bullion.

Just had Yorkshire Bullion ring me up asking about two previous coins they sent me by accident. They're chasing up for payment, which I agreed to pay at the time. Instead of sending anymore money I told them to not send out the 2oz dragon & send out some capsules to make up the difference in price.

Apparently they sent out a duplicate eleven one ounce coin order to another customer and tried to contact him about it without any luck. There are nine other customers who had duplicate orders sent out that they're chasing up and are looking at going to the small claims court to get them back or payment for them.

They said I was invoiced for the coins and expected me to pay up when I received it but I never had any invoices sent to my email address, all down to them changing their server recently.

I guess all the other customers will plead ignorance.

Wow... that's some customer service!  Another one to avoid, it appears.  Make a mistake and then try to sue the customer who had zero involvement in the mistake.  Wow.
