You don't need to work it out, we quote the intrinsic sovereign value here:

Often my go to site for info. The prices you have charged for various sovs and grades I find useful as a feeler for which ones are slightly more desirable to obtain.

Welcome to the club @Goldtion

Buying a current year sovereign is always going to be a sensible decision.  Low premium versus spot, easy to liquidate and not prohibitively expensive for many.

But you will LOVE how a 1oz 999.9 gold coin looks and feels.  Choose carefully - or be prepared to empty your bank account over the coming years to buy more of them!

As no ones else has…..try the sales section on the Forum. You’ll find sovs for a bit less than £319 and a lot of variety. Enjoy

Thanks for the info 👍🏼

Can’t wait to buy a 1 oz , in my head I just want to buy a few coins , but only time will tell how many I end up with.

As others have mentioned it’s expensive and addictive, and one thing that got me into it was seeing a tv programme about people selling their items where some people have coins passed down from family members or inherit them and they are clueless about the value, but pleasantly surprised when give a wad of cash

Find it peculiar how lots of people say that.
Surprised at the size as in you thought it would be larger?

(Just asking out of interest, can’t really remember what I thought the first time I saw one)

I agree when I got my first one I thought it would be bigger too.

That's why it is vital that you should  catalogue everything you have, and make a note of rare coins  . Not all sovereigns are equal . Some family member may be pleasantly surprised to receive £300 for a tiny coin without realising some unscrupulous buyer has just got themselves a rare £1000 plus gem .

Hi everyone

A very very exciting day for me. I am a new member, and today I purchased my first Gold Coin.

A 2021 Sovereign.

So so happy. Paid £319 for it.

Congratulations. It’s great having gold as a store of wealth. It’s addictive so go careful and only spend what you can afford but welcome to the club. You won’t look back now. I still buy silver though but being able to get the gold is an achievement for everyone so you should be proud of yourself for saving something different to the norm. 👍

A gold 1oz is beautiful and great to hold. I was massively underwhelmed when I bought my first sov, but I always think it’s worth £300 and it cheers me up. My plan is to collect different heads but not pay over the top or going looking for rare ones.
Unless you are loaded I’d invest in sovs and buy a few 1oz silver coins ( the big 7) for interests sake.

Absolutely good advice.   Too often people neglect to consider the realities of life: credit card debt, personal loans, rent or mortgage payments, childcare, emergency savings for a rainy day, medical bills, losing one's employment, not saving enough for retirement via registered retirement plan...the list goes on.    Take care of your personal finances first, then whatever is left over, stack into precious metals.
