I agree. It's just over £100 a year for peace of mind (if you're @James32 it's probably £500+ because his will box will be huuuuuge). I use an independent deposit box company (they're around 100 years old), over a bank who can steal it via our corrupt government.

But then I worry that if someone hears I have gold, visit to rob me, see there's none, get angry, then murder me... So.... can't win either way 🤷🏼‍♀️

If anyone wants to use St James in Leeds, feel free to give me a shout. If you mention me, I believe we both get a free month or two each (a forum member recommended it to me and we both got a bonus).

Looks like gold is settling at mid 18s. I'm not wishing my life away, but would love to see what it brings by the end of the year. Will the general elections (UK and USA) trick the people to thinking things are great with their "all fart, no poo" manifestos? (bad for gold). I guess it all depends on whether the rates finally come down as promised.

The US has played a stonker in getting the EU and the UK to destroy their own currencies with Net Zero policies and being reliant on imports from the US. Hence why their currency is the best of a bad bunch, or least unattractive.

Not that I'm in anyway religious, but, God help us. As far as the elections go I think if Labour get in anyone with the smallest resemblance of wealth or money will get screwed. This is the socialists way. Take from all and give to some. Or if by some fluke the Conservatives remain in. It'll be more of the same. The political class from all sides and at all levels really do believe they are far more educated than everyone else and that they know best and if only the inconvenience of the public and voting class could be curtailed easier things would run far smoother for them. They forget that their role only exists to administer the will of the people. The people are sovereign not parliament or the members of parliament.

On the time scale I wish to use my collection / stack I think it'll continue to increase. Wealth preservation ultimately.

I think if you're poor and struggling, you have to vote for labour, you can't suffer like people have been. People that genuinely need benefits, i.e disability have not just had heavy cuts but had them taken away and forced to look for work. Fair enough some got work, but many are stuck on universal credit and not getting the help they need.

 

Torries are horrible see you next Tuesdays, but sometimes you need to make horrible things happen for the good of others.

 

Would a labour government crash financial markets, probably. Although not necessarily a bad thing for gold and crypto doesn't see much effect via British politics.

All been setup for Labour to win, so that there can be a concerted effort to allow further unfettered immigration into the country and to push to get us back in Europe. None of the parties wanted to leave Europe as they all wanted to go and sit in Brussels on 200k/year, plus all the housing benefits, private school education for kids etc... That's why I'm winding down my retail business. Conservatives have run businesses to the ground by increasing company taxes and causing inflation to destroy sales of non-essential items (because no one can afford them). Then labour will come along and make things 10 x worse, then take even more from the middle to pass to the lazy. 

I'll never forget when they reduced VAT from 17.5% to 15%. Of course, that lasted a hot minute, caused issues and resulted in it going up to 20% which we've never escaped since. We always end up worse off long term. Useless.

Both are trash governments. They're only there to let people (puppets) believe we have democracy and choice, but it's smoke and mirrors.

So.... I'm OUT! I'm winding down. The amount of VAT and corp tax those pigs are losing is quite considerable (especially the VAT). As some of you may recall, my plan is to gradually be mostly abroad - other countries will enjoy my money boosting their economies.

The UK can swivvel 🖕 They have pushed entrepreneurs out and opened the gates to people with no ID who could be mass murders for all we know. The likes of Poland hasn't let a single illegal immigrant in and are thriving.

I'm sorry, but I'm VERY bitter about a country I was so proud to be part of 5 years ago.

P.S. Gold's doing alright today isn't it! 👐

I fear you are most likely right that it's theirs to loose. All I see ahead of us is trouble. 

When it come to our collections / stacks. How much gold, silver or both do we need to try and maintain any sort of wealth. I suppose what I mean is. I have no doubt who ever get in they will be after any savings and I fear Labour will be after more than the current lot. So what quantity is required to have an impact on my wealth preservation. The odd ounce of gold won't do that much. I'd need quite a few that I could fall back on along with other forms of stored wealth.

However, Fiat is eroded. Stocks rely on the markets performing well, Properties are becoming more of a liability than an asset, Every thing we do is Taxed to the hilt, taxed when you earn it, taxed when you spend it, some of what we spend on has a duty on it and that is taxed also leading to being taxed on a proportion of the tax we were first taxed (fuel duty springs to mind followed by VAT), taxed when you sell anything you've managed to buy. Your gifts have the potential to attract tax. Then when you finally let go of your mortal coil. what you leave behind is taxed.
