i dont think it will be plain edge, previous piedfort years have been a milled edge Lionel

Two - Platinum Jubilee £5 gold crowns only issued in the "2022 annual set" with the Jodie Clark portrait
Mintage of just 100 and both in PF70. Beautiful weighty pieces in hand
"honi soit qui mal y pense" spoken by the medieval ruling class in England, meaning "shamed be whoever thinks ill of it", usually translated as "shame on anyone who thinks evil of it" It is the motto of the British chivalric Order of the Garter, the highest of all British knighthoods
Hopefully will be an in demand coin in years to come one for the retirement pot

Great job @GoldDiggerDave
Would you mind to share the technique you use? I would like to try it on some silver coins first.

2017 proof 1/4 Krugerrand, can't do anything with the slight contact mark it's very hard to see with a loupe just the Iphone 13 pro macro is brutal.
Given the coin bags more eye appeal, removed the grease, spotty finish.

My first double sovereign! I got it because of this year’s design, and I really like the size. Easier to see the design than a sovereign, and not as expensive as the 5 sovereign.

Today I received after 30 years of service my gold crown. 😆
it’s done a lot of hard work in 30 years but whereas the tooth has finally gave up the gold still shines on. ☀️

Another small gold delivery today but an absolute stunner and a very very nice piece. A 1/20th 2016 libertad. These really don't come up often so I was chuffed to get my hands on it. I also am not 100% sure but I think it might be an ex-proof. All the fields are/were mirror finished from what I can tell and as far as my limited knowledge of these goes, aren't the bullion/uncirculated Matt on these?
Edit...
So with a bit of research this is definitely a proof. An added score for me 🥳. Mintage of 2100 in proof and 2900 in bullion. So not many about in either form. Happy days 😁

Frenchie reacted to Happypanda88 in How many ounces is a good stack?
Welcome to the forum.
This question has been asked a number of times. Some considers 100 ounces to be a good amount for newbies. Others say 500 ounces or even 1,000 ounces. But I'm pretty sure there are members on the forum with much bigger stack and enough to sink a boat ! (You'll get the joke if you stick around long enough).
I'd say it is whatever you're comfortable with and your budget allows.
Rather than starting a new thread, perhaps you could join in the conversation on an existing thread below.

Frenchie reacted to Britannia47 in Today I want to show.....
Today its a 'Metalor' 100g (3.2 ozs) cast gold bar, a piece of gold bearing ore, and the approx. equivalent weight in coinage - 3, 1oz Brits. and a 1/4 oz QB.
In the 'Gold' section there's a thread on 50 gram bars, minted or cast? Well, that's a matter of preference. I prefer 'cast' but also like the minted 'Britannia' bar. However, if you really want to appreciate gold for what it is in its 'raw' state, this is a no-brainer! How can a small 100 g bar (45mm x 25mm x 5mm) feel so good to touch and fondle? Just feel the weight and its 'WOW'! The alternative is to have a minted bar behind plastic and never touch it at all. I do understand about preserving condition/grading etc, but not for me (apart from my Proofs)
This piece of ore comes from the deepest gold mine in South Africa 'The Western Deep Levels' at 3.7km or 2.3 miles. where the purity is about 7.6grams per tonne. That means extracting about 4 tonnes for every 1oz coin. To make this 100g bar would mean an extraction of 12.8 tonnes. So next time you look at one of your coins....... 😀

This greek ancient coin restrike series is absolutely stunning, one of the nicest coin series IMO. After the restrikes of the Aigina Tortoise and the athenian owl, now the third issue of the "Numismatic Icons" series bu CIT, the 1 OZ corinthian Pegasos. First time also in gold available. I hope, they will issue many, many more greek coin restrikes. Worth a video preview
