I much prefer the naked depiction. There’s a sense of strength in his vulnerability. But to be honest I couldn’t imagine fighting a dragon naked or clothed.
Maybe that’s just me. 😆I would need to be wearing a tank, minimum.

I like the idea of the Royal Mint releasing the two coins as a single set, however the price point is going to make these rather prohibitive, especially in the gold and the larger silver denominations, and in a year when most people are finding it hard to cope with the increasing cost of living; so it’s very much a double-edged sword.
I definitely see all the denominations selling out nonetheless, regardless of the mintages, as even the kilo gold etc. of past releases have sold out, so there’s definitely people out there who have more than enough spare cash and a few £10k isn’t a big deal.
After the stress with the gothics and the uneven mintages (at least on the 2oz silver) I think the set is the right call. I completely understand the one off cost is annoying. As I will be only going for the 2oz silver, I will just able to manage.
As I have said previously I would love them reduce the mintages, even if that means I may not get any.
This series needs saving....

So do we collectively think FLOP for this release??
The increasing mintages of the GE series has always been the major issue for me.
Beautiful coins which are hard to get was the biggest selling point in my view. Isn't that the reason why the originals are so admired ?
I agree this one doesn't have the eye appeal of the others. But bump the mintages down and it may make it a success from a collectors perspective.
The RM seemed to prioritise short term profit by increasing the mintages, which long term for this series is probably going to hurt them.
They should be bold and go back to 3k mintage.
I am personally undecided whether to get this one, without it being two coins also adds additional stress.
I probably will though...

I'm starting to think they modelled the imperfections on the Henry VIII coin. Don't rub the noses too hard.
I was thinking that for a minute or two then remembered occams razor.

Are you returning yours NC and, if so, what will you say to the Royal Mint - assuring that's where you got the coin? Obviously, the it falls short of proof standard so, what I'm driving at is how do you describe the imperfection (is there a technical term for it?) and what reason(s) will you give for being unhappy about it and wanting/demanding a replacement?
I will be returning it.
My technical term will be have your coin back and give me a refund please.
I have all if the British Monarchs coins so far (a few of some).
Will be putting them on flebay or similar.
I just don't have the will to go through this with the rest of them. I might pick up a select few, but that's out trying to collect them all

Hi StackerBritt,
Mine arrived today too - and appears to have the same imperfection - assuming that's what it is? I question it as it strikes me as being improbable that two coins have the same issue. It's difficult to say with 100% certainty that the mark on my coin is identical to yours because it's very faint and, even, disappears altogether depending on the light and the angle one views the coin. One would need to see the two together to be completely certain. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the marks are identical, then it's reasonable to assume that every coin minted will be the same? I'm still a newbie and may be talking bollox - I'm just thinking out loud! Anyway, I'll hold off returning mine until others have posted to say (on the 2oz) that their's is imperfection free.
Same here, 2oz silver

well i just got a 'despatch' notification from RM for my 4 coin set - so maybe they have listened to everyone and employed more sheep
Same here. Was getting tired of waiting. There is a chance I will miss the postman tomorrow sadly.

I will be buying....

I have a 4 coin set on order and getting more and more annoyed there isn't any indication when it may be dispatched.
I would like to have it, and looking forward to seeing the coins in hand.
There is a point though where it will be cancelled, especially as they have taken the money on order.
Hoping it's worth the wait

I'm expecting the coin of coins, the gothic quartered arm's will take some beating though imho.
I am expecting an even bigger mintage than the gothic crown portrait.
This series may just end up becoming ten a penny.
I am hoping the mint roll the mintages back a bit, to save this series.
I will be buying in any event probably.

Let's just say the design has been already mentioned several times in this thread... 😉
Are you teasing us ?

Just got a dispatch email from the Royal Mint. I think it must be the 4 coin set. I don't think I am expecting anything else.
Edit - ignore it isn't the 4 coin set. Got excited for a minute

Possibly a shortage of that dust that goes inside capsules?
I can shave my big beard.
That should give them a few coins worth.

Personally think this series is dead. They have ruined it by increasing the mintages and I suspect interest will quickly die, if it hasn't already. The Gothic Crown was a spectacular failure. People holding the Una should be worried, especially if they paid top dollar. The fact that it is the Una may save it to a certain degree but at the end of the day, it's not a real Una! I can't see it's value holding long term.
I do fear you might be right.
It is all about mintages/availability and of course the design.
Una was certainly a great coin. I love it.
They should be bold and drop the mintages for the next one. Especially if it's a series that goes on for years.
Otherwise it's going to fade into nothingness as a series, with a few standouts.
I liked the gothic crown. I probably have too many. It could have have been much more special. For me, rarity and a good design makes a coin extra special.
I appreciate some people think that availability is a good thing. I didn't buy the first unlimited (until the end of year) charles coin for that reason.
I dare say I wouldn't have bought an unlimited Una either, but due to the design I may have.

Well, I joined the queue about 8.45, tried some sneaky links for the 4 coin set but didn't work.
Got completely distracted with work, by the time I remembered the 4 coin set was gone.
Luckily just got one from the RM. I really want to see this design as a double.
It looks great in the photos. Fingers crossed it looks good or better in the flesh.

So it's all agreed. Nobody knows, what is next in the series. We are really just speculating and guessing
My money is on a 'diversity built Britain ' crystal maze 50p reminting. Since the last was that popular it didn't sell out, yet won most popular coin of the year allegedly in RM awards.
My money is on an even higher mintage than the gothic crown portrait.
And that my friends means there will be plenty for everyone who really wants one, one way or another.
-
As we are talking great engravers just had an email from the mint about this set.
I would really like it. I don't want to know the price, but I do want to know the price.
