I'll be happy to take a wager that in 10 years time, I'll be able to buy one for a similar price to what you originally paid, (assuming spot hasn't risen to £1000 an ozt)
I always refer back to my philatelic days, and I can remember numerous releases that hit astronomical figures for a few years, (traffic light gutter pairs for example - one pair per sheet of 240). That today can be bought almost at cost, all due to people moving on to the next big thing.  Well done for selling at the right time. Nice one

My experience also so that's why I have been gradually "dumping" boxed sets, commemoratives and certified proofs.
Selling at a loss but lesson learned.
Fantastic empty shelf space once the fancy packaging has left the building.
Also in my experience the popular slabbed coins with MS-69 / 70 often don't cover the additional cost of grading.
There will always be odd exceptions to quote though.
On the opposite side I wish I hadn't sold last year my collection of Queen's Beasts Griffins looking at the current price.
Nice to see the Dragon creeping up a bit and wonder how the series will develop ?

    A long term stacker !!
Did you follow the herd and buy during the peaks in 2011 ?
Sadly I bought a lot - things were at a fever pitch and coins were selling on eBay the moment they were listed.
At the time you had to pay full VAT buying from the likes of CoinInvest but the German rate of VAT was low ( 7 or 9% ? - cannot recall ) so I bought mainly from German dealers.
I saw my "investment" crash but luckily I wasn't relying on this to pay the bills.
Fortunately I also managed to buy when silver was low and by selling some of this have kind of cancelled some, but not all, of the book value losses.
GS.be and the European Mint have been super but only if you bought sufficient to amortise the shipping.
GS.be also allow you to build up multiple orders to have shipped as a single lot but I wonder how things will look in the new year.
Maybe this is an opportunity for a future branch GS.ie as it may take decades so sort out trade outside of the EU.

That just means there is a actual bottom to the market that hovers just above zero, not that the market will stay the same forever.
Many on here are in their 30's saving for their retirement in 40 years time. I can guarantee 100% that if collectible coins are put away today and sold in 40 years time, you will probably have made zero profit, when factoring inflation, storage and insurance into the equation.
Can anyone name me 5 coins, out of all the coins minted in the 1970's that if sold today  will have made a profit.

This is a good point and something to be careful of as in part the latest fashion drives prices and once no longer in vogue the price premium is gone. The added risk with some modern silver coins can be rather than gradual ageing you get rapid degradation. Still a great buy for anyone who got in early and sold recently.

As a long term forum member, here from the early days, the forum has settled into two camps, the stacker and the collector. The collector group appears to be the larger number and as such will pay over the odds for an item, knowing that 1. it exists, and 2. They can have it in their hand in 48 hours.
At the start I too paid silly money for collectibles that I was assured would be winners. They are not, no collectible ever holds the price it has in the first month after release. The longer you hold it, the less profit you will make, (if any). However, the newbies havn't cottoned on to that yet, they listen to the silver collectible pumpers and will pay over the odds.
Gold on the forum is a little different though. Bullion can be bought easily here at less than dealers prices, and sold for more than dealers will offer, so it's a win win situation. With gold collectibles though, see my comments about silver above.

Couple little pick ups, the 1902 seems to be severely under graded unless I’m missing something.

Nothing beats finding silver under spot, plus you can have a few minutes of fun researching hallmarks as well.
Easy to store, therapeutic to clean, (i love getting tarnished flatware so I can make it shine as the silversmith intended), and unlike a bullion coin you can eat your weetabix with them

I didn’t receive these today but very recently.
Silver flatware can be a real bargain for those looking to stack silver for weight.
Three Victorian silver spoons, hallmarked 1853, weighing over 60g for 10% under spot.
They might not be anything special but they’re full of almost 170 years of history and they’re silver!!

I've been buying some Brits from eldoradocoins.de lately. they seem to be the best price I can find and shipping for me was only £9. I have seen that goldsilver are cheap but I've also seen that they called a customer a kloot. There are more than enough horror stories around these parts pertaining to them and their service. I suggest anyone who doesn't know of them do a quick search on here. One place that I won't be taking a chance with. I have this place to thank for a lot of decisions I've made with PMs and this is one I'm very grateful for.

I expect  gold to get smashed this week by the money manipulators. Chinese gold week. Hang seng closed due to this holiday so the Asian markets won't be buying. Hold tight all. Could be a right kicking this week but another buying opportunity....

I might buy a physical ETF for the short term. Do you think £15 is a good target? Or £17? Probably sell when on the end of the next peak, which should technically be higher than the last one. I would say £23-4 an ounce maybe more spot. Anything over £5 an ounce profit is reasonable I think? I can then reinvest the profit into mining stocks & repeat the process all along the way. Makes sense to me but what do I know, my £5.5k account is -£90 today LOL.

But. But. That is what all the youtubers with an interest in selling me silver told me.
