    Welcome!

So one of the things to definitely consider is also the liquidity of your purchases, considering that your current stacking strategy of getting the cheapest ones (this may change over time, neither is right or wrong imo). What is important either way is the liquidity of your stack.

Say you have some bills to pay and you need to sell of some of your holdings, can you do this without issues? Certain coins are recognized around the world and will give you no trouble when it comes to sell, thinking of Britannia's, Philharmonikers, Kurgerrands, and to an extent i think the Goddess Europa and Bull&bear coin will be fine as well

Keeping in mind that you may have to sell when you don't want to, make sure you actually can sell part of your holdings. If you were to get certain silver pieces that are hard to shift, you may run into some issues. It's for this reason that I would stay away from bigger sizes initially. 1oz, 50g's or 100gs will be fine, but maybe shy away from the 10oz + sizes for the time being.

On a side note, I'll say that Europabullion and the Europeanmint are good for silver purchases. Europabullion is quicker in terms of delivery, but both have a good stock of items and are trust worthy. I have not purchased any items from Goldsilver.be, so I can't comment on that.

    All the best,

I can confirm that the service from them is really good. They currently also have an option for deferred shipping so you can make (i think it's up to 5) orders in a 3 month period to be packed and shipped together in order to save on shipping. Not sure if they offer that for UK clients as well but worth to check out.

    Good morning Silvernoob,
All the coins we sell come either directly from the mint or from a respected wholesalers. All the coins labeled "Uncirculated" are exactly that - uncirculated. The scratches you see on the edges occur during the packing process in the mint or during transportation - as the coins bang against each other in the tube.
If you were to sell this particular coin on the picture back to us we would pay exactly what we pay for a coin with no marks.
However, since you seem to be a new customer we can offer you a replacement of the coin. We can only do that one time, we cannot guarantee that there will be no minor marks or scratches on the coins you order in the future.
We have also sent you an e-mail response to your inquiry
    Kind regards,
    EuropaBullion Team

Hate to leave this on a cliffhanger, we are all sorted. @BackyardBullion has his quintuple and he is doing me a favour in return that until I found this group I couldn't have trusted someone to do.
Top bloke to deal with, no messing around with postage on the exchange as he knew I was in a hurry due to work commitments....tried not to fanboy too much speaking to him seeing as his videos have got me into this whole scene 😅
Cheers to the community here for helping solve problems, maybe moderators could look in to a section for members to swap around coins from sets etc. To help mitigate the mints errors? Maybe an oppurtunity for someone to make a few quid as a middleman?

@Junior Nice sentiment pal, I'm guessing you are fairly young, you don't need to convince anyone here. The problem is the general public are as thick as two short planks re silver, all they are interested in is what consumer s--te they can buy as cheaply as possible. Silver does not even register with them, we are the enlightened ones here & they will only take a cursory interest in silver when the media start saying buy it when it hits $100 an oz. Nice try though pal.
PS I am giving a good neighbour 2oz of silver for Christmas for doing me a favour.

I agree with a lot of what is being said here, but I wouldn’t be comfortable stating outright whether or not it’s genuine or a replication.
I always think it’s unfair to judge a coin unless you have it in hand and can have it assessed.
I would never give an opinion on authenticity unless I was able to have the coin in hand and had access to an array of analytical techniques.
All I will say is it’s very clearly a rare type and highly sought after, so I really do hope that it’s genuine as it would be a fantastic buy for you, regardless of whether you’re intending on keeping it or selling it on.
A nice type and wishing you all the best with it!
    Cheers!

If you look at the feathers, the detail under the shield
The O the bottom Of the M
The lines between the feathers in my opinion it is an imitation
More than likely be gold but none the less an imitation so worth bullion value
But if I'm wrong and trust me I'm not expert at all far from it I'm going to be kicking myself for years

For your reference, I attach a link to a German forum where the same question was asked 10 years back. Apparently, this particular type of coin was commonly forged even then, so it is not impossible that yours is not genuine either. But, on the bright side, the forgeries may have the right gold content...

Hello Bixley. If it is genuine, you have a very rare and sought after coin (mintage 6000). However you need to ascertain if it is in fact genuine. I have attached a photo from Kurt Jaeger (standard reference on German coins after 1871). You will note the ‘F’ symbol which denotes ‘Fälschungen vorbekommen’ which is fairly obvious in translation. Submission to NGC/PCGS I think is warranted, or indeed Künker (very reputable German auction house) visit the larger UK coin fairs regularly and you could ask their opinion.
That all said the coin looks nice in the photo and to my eye in ‘ss’ condition. Good luck with it!

Perhaps see if you can do both.
Stack bullion for weight, buying as well as you possibly can on price.
Collect the other coins that give you pleasure of ownership, and only sell these on if you really have to.
Whatever works for you is the right answer.  It's not always about the money...

This is not the easiest of marks to decipher
The Lion Passant is Sterling silver.
    The anchor is Birmingham
The year marks are P and O - these could be 1913 and 1914 or 1938 and 1939. These particular year marks are very similar.
The year issue is resolved by the marker's mark.

This is Arthur Price & Co. This company was not registered in 1913 / 14 but it was in 1938 / 39

So this is Birmingham Sterling silver from 1938 / 39 by Arthur Price & Co.

You seem to have most of it already.
There are a couple of these medallions in bronze for sale on ebay.
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353755157110
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304204984798
These actually look like the same medallion as there is tarnishing over a sail in the same place.

The silver version is seen here:
    https://medalhasportuguesas.wordpress.com/2019/04/29/100-anos-de-actividade/

Notice the silver version is 50mm and the bronze version is said to be 80mm. So you can check whether it is silver or not.

    Here it is.
I’ve spoken about this ‘rock’ on a few occasions on the forum and yesterday I found it!! I knew it was here somewhere and I found it. I don’t think I’ve seen it for 3-4 years.
    So what is it?
It has travelled half way around the world, it was found in Australia and belonged to my grandfather. My grandparents went to visit family in Perth some time in early 80’s. As a child I was fascinated by it, I remember on many occasions looking at it. To me as a child it just looked like a rock with ‘sparkly bits’. It was always on a shelf in the kitchen, I apparently used to always stand on a chair to look at the ‘sparkly rock.
Many, many years later I visited my grandparents and my grandad said, as I was leaving, “I’ve got something to give you” as he handed me this rock. I declined it and he said “No you must keep it, it’s from our holiday in Australia in the 80’s”. He insisted I took it and reminded me that I was, in his words, obsessed with looking at it as a child. Maybe that’s when the seed was  sown. I like sparkly bits maybe, no, that doesn’t sound right.
So here it is. My grandad passed away around four years after he gave this rock to me and I still miss him and his stories of The Second World War.
I thought I’d share it here with you all.
For me it has such huge sentimental value. I guess and this is a guess, it has maybe a few grams of gold in it.
Would I smash it open? No.
Do I wonder what it’s gold content is? Yes.
But the memories are more important to me and I intend, curiosity aside, to pass it onto the next generation. I am, afterall, only the guardian of this rock.
My grandad means much more to me than a rock, of course, but I intend to pass this onto the next generation as it was handed to me. Intact and a mystery as to just how much gold this rock holds. For all I know it might have a large nugget inside.
(excuse the bad photos, taken with the flash on)
