  1. I'd agree. The ase tend to be advertised at higher premiums in Europe and UK but my local bullion dealer would rather take brits and doesn't see us coins as better they're just bullion. I think your local mints going to be the best bet and easiest to sell (eg ase if you're US based, kangaroos in Aussie, Brits in UK) Certainly worth considering the buy price though. I've not bought many bullion coins this year due to premiums
  2. Are you trying to buy a single coin or buying tubes/boxes etc?
  3. A friend had an online account hacked, they ordered something to their own address so when my mate got access back to his account he got the address and phone number and went crazy put a load of ads up in all the local groups that he (the scammer) collects scrap fridges and to drop them off at his address amoungst other things
  4. Can just imagine trying to whisper gold coins. Yep 2000 pounds worth. And then the clerk shouting it down the tannoy oh wow 2000 worth of gold coins just in that package, 😂
  5. I have written on a folded piece of paper the value Eg £330 and then inside the note gold coin I just show the value to the window when they ask and usually don't ask what's inside but if they did I could show without shouting it across the post office
  6. Not so much a major error but being wary of spreads when buying and selling via the dealers. It takes a fair shift in price to break even that way
  7. It's a pass from me too. Not quite the qb series is it?
  8. Only partly useful but I've sourced from house renovations, pipes tanks cables and wires. Just tend to pile it up then take it to weigh in though so can't help on the other part. Might be able to 'harvest' it from skips or scrap appliances or friends and family doing renovations etc potentially
  9. Have to ask the main man Gordon about the UKs 😂
  10. I read on yahoo the amount of available cash and the amount they bought of gold and dividing the two it's just over 2% of their available cash. Probably wouldn't call it "backing up the truck" but it isn't an insignificant amount of money. Certainly interesting
  11. Throw em to the tubes though normally they come in tubes. I bought a 'tube' of kookaburras a while back and they were in individual capsules wrapped together which I find a bit annoying. Prefer the straight tubes like brits or maples. Stacking more plastic than silver at that rate 😂 'junk' silver I've seperate the purities in seperate bags but getting to the point where I'll see if tubes can save some space on those compared to just loose bags. The gold I'm swapping out odds and ends gradually sticking with tubes of sovs and 1 oz for future purchases unless I see a really good deal. Sovs for fractional and 1 oz I think makes the most sense
  12. There was a couple on Hgm recently it looks like they're gone now.
  13. Maybe best going into a physical bullion dealers then you can look at a couple and choose the one you want that's old enough and in a condition you're happy with at the right price. If buying online some have condition notes if you're buying a specific year sov.
  14. If you can't find what you want on the forum classifieds Baird mint have been very well priced for their own bars (even including VAT) and consistently been better than other dealers from my observations.
  15. I don't think 2021 sovs are a special date. To me it's a bullion coin if you want a 2021 or one that is 'new' to you then choose 2021 sov. Most dealers have this on their website too, it typically doesn't cost much more than a random year sov maybe a couple of £ .
  16. Did they manage to fit it on a single pallet?
  17. I'd take it to a local dealer and have it checked if I was unsure. I usually do with my purchases that aren't from the main dealers. Mainly just peace of mind. I'm not personally suspicious looking at the photos but I don't doubt the capabilities of scammers either.
  18. Most dealers have an option to purchase "best value" or "random date" gold sovs on their websites. These are typically the lowest premium. They are just bullion coins sold for their gold content and unlikely to be a special collectible rare date (although I guess you never know) many people in here will happily stack bullion sovs all day. One thing to note is some dealers have another section where they might sell 'low grade' sovs which might have been mounted or damaged significantly, they might be a tiny bit cheaper still but I'd personally not buy these. Equally if you want a nice modern shiny one best bet would be to buy a 2021.
  19. As hobbies go, buying 'money' can't be such a bad option can it?
  20. Great topic, interesting to hear different ideas. For me it's to diversify a portion of my long term savings. I do enjoy reading some of the history of the old world silver and gold coins. My original plan was to buy modern bullion coins but this year got on to old coinage due to the price difference. I don't consider it an investment as such more as an insurance or a plan B and like I mentioned a diversified way of saving some 'money'
  21. The rim looks dodgy at first glance, whilst the photos might not be the best I'd personally steer clear. Could ask the seller to do a video just showing the sides and edges of the coin if you specifically want that coin and that might be more clear

It seems like you were trying a similar plan with multiple sellers, shopping around for the best deal, yep i get it, fair enough, the reason I chose not to work with you on a deal is the way you went about trying to get a deal as I explained in pm at the time, also I didn't feel comfortable as a seller. Whilst I offered some friendly advice on using the forum, it seems like this incident must have gone on since then. It might be worth making some smaller purchases and building up some feedback and reputation within the community, check out some of the articles available on bullion dealers websites or videos or discussions about the pros and cons of different gold coins vs bars etc. There's a lot of knowledge within the forum to draw upon and contribute to Happy stacking mate

If you agree on a price that should be the agreed price. If you need more time to think before making a deal I think it's better to say that up front than to change your mind. I appreciate you might not have been buying metals for long but from some of your threads and messages if the £ price movements worry you then perhaps better buying either smaller pieces or just sitting on your cash a little longer if you don't feel comfortable right now. Maybe it would put your mind at ease more to watch the price movements for a period of time before converting some £ to gold?
