  1. Maybe best going into a physical bullion dealers then you can look at a couple and choose the one you want that's old enough and in a condition you're happy with at the right price. If buying online some have condition notes if you're buying a specific year sov.
  2. If you can't find what you want on the forum classifieds Baird mint have been very well priced for their own bars (even including VAT) and consistently been better than other dealers from my observations.
  3. I don't think 2021 sovs are a special date. To me it's a bullion coin if you want a 2021 or one that is 'new' to you then choose 2021 sov. Most dealers have this on their website too, it typically doesn't cost much more than a random year sov maybe a couple of £ .
  4. Did they manage to fit it on a single pallet?
  5. I'd take it to a local dealer and have it checked if I was unsure. I usually do with my purchases that aren't from the main dealers. Mainly just peace of mind. I'm not personally suspicious looking at the photos but I don't doubt the capabilities of scammers either.
  6. Most dealers have an option to purchase "best value" or "random date" gold sovs on their websites. These are typically the lowest premium. They are just bullion coins sold for their gold content and unlikely to be a special collectible rare date (although I guess you never know) many people in here will happily stack bullion sovs all day. One thing to note is some dealers have another section where they might sell 'low grade' sovs which might have been mounted or damaged significantly, they might be a tiny bit cheaper still but I'd personally not buy these. Equally if you want a nice modern shiny one best bet would be to buy a 2021.
  7. As hobbies go, buying 'money' can't be such a bad option can it?
  8. Great topic, interesting to hear different ideas. For me it's to diversify a portion of my long term savings. I do enjoy reading some of the history of the old world silver and gold coins. My original plan was to buy modern bullion coins but this year got on to old coinage due to the price difference. I don't consider it an investment as such more as an insurance or a plan B and like I mentioned a diversified way of saving some 'money'
  9. The rim looks dodgy at first glance, whilst the photos might not be the best I'd personally steer clear. Could ask the seller to do a video just showing the sides and edges of the coin if you specifically want that coin and that might be more clear

It seems like you were trying a similar plan with multiple sellers, shopping around for the best deal, yep i get it, fair enough, the reason I chose not to work with you on a deal is the way you went about trying to get a deal as I explained in pm at the time, also I didn't feel comfortable as a seller. Whilst I offered some friendly advice on using the forum, it seems like this incident must have gone on since then. It might be worth making some smaller purchases and building up some feedback and reputation within the community, check out some of the articles available on bullion dealers websites or videos or discussions about the pros and cons of different gold coins vs bars etc. There's a lot of knowledge within the forum to draw upon and contribute to Happy stacking mate

If you agree on a price that should be the agreed price. If you need more time to think before making a deal I think it's better to say that up front than to change your mind. I appreciate you might not have been buying metals for long but from some of your threads and messages if the £ price movements worry you then perhaps better buying either smaller pieces or just sitting on your cash a little longer if you don't feel comfortable right now. Maybe it would put your mind at ease more to watch the price movements for a period of time before converting some £ to gold?
  13. Not to say there aren't better fakes but I mean without even any testing equipment many fakes can be ruled out. Some bullion dealers will test for you. I've only bought a handful of gold coins from here the rest is from main dealers and had all tested just for piece of mind. Sigma and XRF machine on top of simply weighing and measuring and magnet testing
  14. There's a we buy gold type shop I went in and he had a tray of fake coins in his display cabinet. If you've ever had a sov there's no way you couldn't tell just by looking at them that the sovs weren't real, designs looked spot on in all kinds of years and heads but thickness and sound and just look of the coins wasn't right. If I put 1 in 100 real sovs and mixed them up I could fish it out in seconds but buying from a blurry photo you probably wouldn't tell
  15. Yeah probably take at least a day from the original release
  16. That middle column averages out about 2% right?
  17. She's putting on weight the old coinage monster box 🤣
  18. Another kg and a bit of fine silver in some mixed melty coins from @DuncanWylieWilson
  19. Cheers @DuncanWylieWilson for the crown and @Sparrowlegs4 for the Brits 👍🏽
  20. Yes, sorry I was just talking in relation to gold/silver
  21. non farm payroll data announce at 1330 our time in the US. Essentially the number of people in employment... A higher number suggesting economy is all rosy and productivity will be good etc AKA perceived positive news so safe haven assets with no yield like gold less popular. Good short opportunity
