From the image on RM website the raised edge are all similar in height but on the 2oz it look higher due to the smaller dimension.

The 10oz is essentially a Piedfort of the 5oz

And the 2oz is a piedfort of the nonexistent 1oz they should have made!

I’m guessing they couldn’t physically make it (doesn’t mater that they could 200 years ago!) hence they never planned them for this series. The 5oz petition crown showed they are obviously struggling with edge lettering. I much prefer the diameter of the Perth mint 2oz blanks to the tubby royal mint ones.

still loving the design and can’t wait to see it in hand. I just want the coin swiftly and in good shape and I’ll be very happy!

Aaaahhh😉

I wish they did a bunc cupronickel version so you could handle it without fear of instant 80% depreciation 🤣

A cupronickel version could also encourage new collectors to come in, and who in future could move on to silver or gold coins.

Copper or bronze? Some really creative copper coins atm.

U would think the 2oz! Sell to someone who is oblivious to availability! Why not reduce and sell for £350 and then buy another at £280? £800 is dreamland

I’m happy to sit back and now see which way the market goes….. good feelings with this coin it’s got everything going for it.

Having dissed this coin on TSF a few days ago, I have ended up with a 2oz gold, 2oz silver and 5oz silver.

I think i've got a problem.

If you change your mind on the 5oz silver?

I'm also surprised that the price is cheaper than the 10oz celebration bars. I thought since it a newer releases, it be more expensive on the premium side.

I can confirm after speaking to the RM today that this series will not be limited like the, celebration bars were that would explain the difference in price

I managed to secure the ten ounce yesterday and I have seen a few comments mentioning the lettering on the rim isn’t right i honestly don’t think this coin will have a problem with the price being reduced in a few years the fact that there is only a maximum mintage of one hundred and that the coin is a good design I’m just hoping there is no quality issues

@paulmerton

Buy a 1951 FoB 5 Shillings you can pick them up cheap. I got one for £5 graded PL67 top pop one of only 3  and sold it on.

However the money that year is in the VIP Proof and matte (not many of these at all) and the PL were made in mass numbers but can be hard to find one that will grade better than PL67.

Still cheap though.

Thanks, but it's the raised edge lettering rather than the reverse design that would be the main reason for wanting to give this new coin a proper fondle.

Tell me this is not one of the sexiest golds to come out of the RM in years?  Just look at it, it's stunning.

The 10oz silver is going to be very interesting if the raised edge lettering is in scale with the coin

I wonder what people think these coins will sell for once the fuss dies down?

2oz silver ?

5oz silver ?

10 oz silver ?

2 oz gold ?

I be honest and say after watching this series from the start, I don't have a clue 😀

My opinion it's up there as one of the best, I expect they will significantly increase in value. Especially in gold, I'd think anything under £20k would be a great buy. Looks amazing, definitely a keeper. Wouldn't worry about selling, anyone lucky enough to get the gold, just own this one, hang on to it. Investment piece for sure. Doubt these will seldom be seen for sale. Just my opinion. Look forward to hearing everyone's comments. Very intriguing coin

Well I’m going to drill a hole in the 5oz and make a nice chain and Pendant gift for my Etsy shop.

I think what makes this coin special is its history for me, Pistrucci didn't only engrave the 1818 crown, he got so fed up with the harderning department breaking his dies (104 to be precise), he actually ended up hardening them himself in the furnace :

"I would not have presumed to undertake
this duty if there had been a practical man at his post, and not a gentleman who was afraid of
dirtying his hands with coals, or of exposing himself for a few hours to the glowing heat of a
furnace."

Put it on ebay and sell it at ten times the price as a unique novelty. 🤣
