  1. Any idea on mintage? That's often the key to how valuable/popular a SoTD is.
  2. I had wondered if they'd manufacture a royal event and do a 1st anniversary of the coronation sotd and use the crowned head. However can't see that now as it would be too close to the D Day sotd..
  3. I was expecting a higher price given the gold price rise recently. Think they charged £850 last year for the birthday SotD - which BBP still have 5 left and BCC are selling at a £55 discount. Looks like RM have decided the price has reached saturation point. Thanks for the news.
  4. I'm sure that the RM Executive that bought it can afford the premium. 😊
  5. When has that stopped them. 💰
  6. D Day. One or two private mints have jumped on this bandwagon and RM look like they are joining them. SotD could be part of the offering.
  7. I can't see them missing out on the income from at least one SotD regardless of the gold price.
  8. Been wondering that myself.
  9. When I was a lad it was called a half crown. 😂
  10. But are they subject to FOI requests? Even if they are they could claim commercial exemption.
  11. Presumably in this new plant they can also recover the gold from sub-standard proof coins. 🤣
  12. I thought that the video was the quality control checking the proof coin was good before putting it in a capsule. 😂
  13. I am surprised that they have never done a G&D series of coins with different designs.
  14. Isle of Man have done one for D Day at £35. Loads of adverts on TV which might mean it's not selling. Only in proof.
  15. Does that figure include the bullion coin in a card/blister?
  16. .. and £900 for a sotd? Problem for the mint is that they've already reached a saturation point with the proof price. If they keep on increasing the price even less people will buy. But that means their margins will suffer. Either way they will see profits cut. Just because the gold price has rocketed doesn't mean incomes gone up at the same rate.
  17. Britannia Coin Company now selling them at £55 below issue price. https://britanniacoincompany.com/buy-coins/gold-coins/2023-sotd-sovereign-birthday/
  18. Sounds like the lawyers are involved...
  19. Their web site doesn't even acknowledge the ref number. Pulled already?
  20. They are hardly likely to admit they got it wrong and been making excess profits at the expense of customers. However they do say that they don't always meet the right standards and will strive to do better. BYB - I think you have done an excellent job in not only raising this issue but by the constructive and focused way you have gone about it. Credit to the mint also in being willing to listen. This is a case of reading between the lines and that the success of the lobbying will be seen in what they do in future. For me the jury is still out and we'll know better in 6 months.
  21. Unlike St Helena didn't want to upset France. 😀
  22. That's quicker than the memorial sovereign. RM service is improving.
